I have hitachi lcd rear projection tv model 60v500A at first I was getting a red spot on centar of tv with in two mounths the spot got bigger. I chanched the lamp but now i don't have a picture, the red indicator on tv is now blinking.
A green image is usually due to a lack of red or especially blue. the problem is becoming all too common with hitachi lcd projection sets. what happens is that one of the lenses in the optical block (or light engine) starts to burn or discolor due to overheating because of a blocked air filter causing poor air (cooling) circulation. Nothing can be done when the damage is too far gone except to replace the light engine-at acost that makes it not worth repair. if the damage is minimal than to reduce further damage the air filter should be replaced. Light engine needsto be removed in order to replace the air filter.
I would check for burnt resistors as the 150s are interchangeable with the 110s however in alot of hitachis I have seen resistors blow after upgradeing to the higher wattage ICs. I Usually switch out the convergence resistors whenever I go to a higher wattage IC just to be sure. If you need more help let me know.
I'm going throught the exact same thing right now. After the lights quit blinking, and the blue light goes off, does the red lamp light stay on. This usually means your lamp has gone bad ($200.00 plus). But when I ordered the lamp, it did the same thing. Had to have the certified hitachi repair man come out for the and told me it had to be a bad lamp, so I ordered a 2nd one with the same result. He came out again and had to take the TV away, later telling me the ballast must have blown when the original lamp went bad. Another $200.00 part. I haven't fought this one with Hitachi yet but am going to try. The ballast shouldn'e go just because the lamp goes out. The set is only 21/2 years old and I've already had to spend about $700.00 on the light enging replacement and now this lamp and ballast expense. Love the TV but would expect a lot less problems from a $2500.00 top model Hitachi. I'm going to see if they feel the same way, hopefully not but I'm not real optimistic they will care. Hope this helps.
Refer to owners manual ! Blinking indicates the type of fault that is occuring on all your tv sets. example : power light on red - indicator light beside it green but blinks rapidly for half a second rapidly then shuts off. This refers to a faulty lamp or a lamp that is near its expiration. Read your manuals if indicators refer to easy repair sweet, but if it says call tech then bummer...
