I have a belkin wireless g router. The router is connected to my desktop running Windows XP thru an Earthlink DSL & my laptop is running Vista Home Basic. At one point I got it working but it kept losing its connection on both systems and would not allow to play videos & audios via internet. I read to update the firmware and I did. It helped with the buffering problem for videos somewhat, but still a slight issue. My wireless router is found via my laptop however it only connects to LAN and not WAN. Any suggestions? When I run a diagnostic it states there is a problem with the DNS server.
GUYS, omg this is so damn unbelievable. I've searched EVERYWHERE on the internet until some genius told me that the reason why I couldn't get internet even though I connected to the router was because of the stupid Norton Internet Security Firewall that was still in use after uninstalling. After I downloaded Norton Removal Tool, EVERYTHING was back to normal. I'm NEVER going to use Norton again, I don't care how much they have improved I was using 2008 and it caused me so much trouble. I recommend everyone out there to not use Norton as well. People out there are saying that Norton is a virus itself in that it is VERY hard to uninstall.
I have installed my belkin router and its telling me it is ready to use but when i go in to open my belkin its not showing its name
DNS allows you to access your network using domain names instead of IP addresses. The service manages changing IP address and updates your domain information dynamically. You must sign up for service through TZO.com or DynDNS.org. If you know how to get into your setting just disable the Dns. and for your wireless does your computer hook up to other wireless connections. If so there may be some other setting we may have to change in the routers settings, Hope this helps if not get back to me, Happy Holidays

I have been on the phone with technical support for both earthlinke and belkin. I was told I need to get my DSL bridged by earthlink, I did that. Then belkin told me to change my connection type to PPPoE, I did that. The main pc still connects fine but the laptop still says local only. He told me to disable my firewalls and I should connect, but I don't feel comfortable doing that. Any other suggestions? We also deleted the connection I had saved.
i recently got a laptop and it was set up to be wireless, it was working fine for about 2 weeks, it says im connected to my belkin router but can access the internet....something about DNS maybe down
I have the exact same issue.
yea this is so annoying. I just got an HP dv5t laptop with 4GB ram which runs wickedly fast, and I also have my parent's Dell Studio 1535. Just two days ago, my hp dv5t suddenly could not get internet even after restarting computer, resetting tcp/ip, resetting router, disabling "ipv6, qos packet scheduler, link-layer drivers". My Dell studio could still connect to my router and internet works fine even after 5 or 6 restarts. HP dv5t with Vista Home Premium and Dell with Vista Basic. Don't know what the hell went wrong here... really need help. Much appreciated if anyone could help me out.
