Belkin Wireless N router/Embarq 660 modem/No internet

Make sure your physical connection is correct. From the modem, the ethernet cable should plugged in to the Internet/WAN port of the router. And your computer to port 1. Access the setup page of the router again and Enable the MAC Address Clone setting. Clone the MAC Address of your PC there then power cycle the router and modem. You should be all set.

Belkin N Modem Router If main PC which is ethernet wired to the modem router is swtiched off, laptops cannot access the internet. Does this mean that the PC to which the modem router is connected has to...

it will as long as the modem/router is connected to a phone line, instead of the pc, the only cable connected to the pc should be a ethernet cable; or you have the pc networking set that it connects via another pc instead of through a gateway, re run the wireless network wizard.

Belkin N Wireless Router doesn't connect to Modem

If router is brand new you should have a set up disk. the set up disk will walk you through it or you might log onto Belkin site to see a walk through set up. If you can access internet from modem to router to internet. That means router is functioning properly. To go completely wireless you will need to secure your network and setup your access codes. Definitely use the setup disk to do this. A unsecured wireless network is a nightmare waiting to happen. Good luck

Belkin n1 wireless usb adapter

Dear Friend,

1. Connect your ISP modem to your PC and configure as Bridge mode.

2. Remove your ISP modem and connect your wireless router to your PC and configure as PPPOE mode. (refer http://www.wi-fiplanet.com/reviews/article.php/3645166 if any doubt on configuration)

3. Now connect your ISP modem to wireless router, The modem should connect to your WAN cable.

4. And Give the wireless router's IP in your laptop as Gateway (In TCPIP settings of your Laptop wireless adapter / or configure DHCP)

5. Now you can access internet on both systems.

Router not working unless

Several questions --

How is this wired?

Comming from the Cable (tv) or a phone wire (DSL) from a phone jack you are connected to a modem/whatever supplied by your service provider. Then an ethernet cable (looks like a fat phone cable with extra wide connectors (8 metal connectors instead of 2 or 4) connects the modem/whatever to your router's WAN port (the separate port not one of the block of 4) and another ethernet cable connects the one of the outer's Lan ports (probably block of 4) to the desktop computer and your laptop operates wirelessly. Is this correct? If not explain houw this is wired, please. For consistency please start at the cable or phone wire.

Does your desktop do anything to log into the internet with a userid and password maybe?

If so who is your internet service provider?

We may need to change the login process and get it into the router and off the desktop.

Belkin WirelessG Plus Mimo

Consider securing the wireless connection if you have not done so your neighbors MAY be able to utilize your wireless connection and your bandwidth if you do not.

see http://www.fixya.com/support/t281214-wireless_security

Secondly if I understand you you have 4 computers using the router to access the modem connected to your Internet Service Provider; three using wires and one using the wireless. First have youneed to confirm that your internet service provider allows multiple devices to share the connection (which is what your router is trying to do). If so do you have to logon / login to your ISP to access the internet? (This login may be hidden from you in the modem provided by the ISP) Research if it is required to have your router logon to the ISP instead of either one of the computers or the modem in order to support multiple users. If that is the case you will need to determine if your router is capable of performing the logon for you and configure the necessary devices appropriately.

I can possibly help with the above but will need to know your ISP, and the manufacturer and model for your router and wireless card(s) to assist in configuring the components. The manufacturer and model information will also provide a basis for securing the wireless network if desired.
