Hello lholt07,

If the L5 has 4 ohm voice coils, you simply wire both voice coils in parallel, both marked and unmarked positive terminals together and to the amp and likewise with the negative terminals. If the L5 has 2 ohm voice coils, it cannot be wired to 2 ohms.

Hope this helps.

Would a 10ZX750.1 amp be alright on a Single Solobaric L5 10" inch in a ported box???

yes, the 10ZX750.1 is capable of running two L5's at two ohms in either a ported or sealed box. Just be sure to wire it up to suit your needs correctly (if you need to know how i can help) and make sure that your box dimensions match what kicker specify. the L5 is actually one of the subs that kicker reccommend for that amp.
Hope I helped , and please dont forget to rate.
cheers

Do I wire 4 ohm voice coils in series or parallel to get a 2 ohm circut?

Hi,

Basically, it would be the amp that would dictate whether series or parallel. If the amp is rated at X watts @ 2 ohms, then the speakers could be wired in parallel. If however the amp is rated at so many watts in 4 ohms, then it would be safer to wire the speakers in series to achieve 8 ohms.

If two 4 ohms speakers are wired in parallel, the end result is a 2 ohm load. If the amp is rated at 4 ohms, and presented with a 2 ohms load, possibilities are:
  • autoprotect would kick in often;
  • burn the output transistors of the amp.
Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.
