Take all your things out of the freezer and pull the racks out. there should be a way to remove the back panel inside. Behind the panel is a bunch of coils. If they are covered in ice you have a problem. At the bottom is usually a single element or double element heater. Replace that and you should be good to go. They are about 30-40 dollars at your appliance store. They will need your model number to get the right one. Let me know if that works.

What does the temp display on the freezer tell me?

unless this is a dedicated freezer only and not a side by side or over/under , there's no way it's going to get down too 0 degrees inside a warm home , nope not gonna happen

also its not good for you to set this there as compressor wont cycle properly there and entire freezer will ice up , then believe it or not it will get warmer not colder wastes a lot of power as well

What temperature should the freezer be set at?

Deep freezers are typically supposed to be at 0 Degrees (F) or slightly below, which allows food to be kept frozen for long periods of time.

Have upright frost free freezer alarm is going off about once or twice a day.Put a thermometer it is around 20 degrees I mute the al;arm and it beeps again and again after several hours. looked to clean...

Hi most deep freezers operate at 0 dergrees. your model may have 2 temp zones. 0 or 20 deg.I'm gessind that your sensor is going off when the defroster is on to melt ice (defrosting). Lower the setting. monitor and repeat as needed. if it continues you may need to replace the unit or ad freon. If the unit is over 13 years ge a new one.

Freezer temperature swings

the users manual does not cover this particular issue as to the temperature swing. I have seen some thermostats that are the "constant on" type that you are describing. No way of telling from the vague manual. As long as you are not storing ice cream for a long period of time, 0 degrees is usually fine for most home applications. Sorry I can not give you more info.
