Replacing a fraayed and twisted power cord on a Hoover windtunnel upright

How do I replace the power cord and will a standard exterior extension cord that is 16 gauge work as a replacement cord?

The power cord on my Hoover Wind Tunnel Mach3.6 is frayed and twisted, so I bought a replacement cord . The problem is that I can't find a way to access the area where the cord is connected to the machine. How and where can I get to the place where the cord is connected? Thank You for a quick response.

Ok so I took this vaccum apart completely except for the electrical and motor systems. It seems to me that without dismantling both of these systems on the vaccum you can't replace the power cord. And I wouldn't recommend taking them apart unless you know what you are doing since replacing the power cord seems to require cutting the old power cord and soldering the new one onto the old terminals. All in all its probably easier to get a new vaccum altogether.

It has a 35 foot cord on it, but I think an 16g wire should be ok. It may say on the wire what gauge it is and I think that it is either 17 or 18 guage.

16 is even better than 17-18 smaller# means thicker wire

How do I replace a severed power cord on hoover windtunnel upright bagless model U5280900?

It would be the easiest way, attaching a male plug to the end of the severed cord so it can be used with an extension from the power outlet. Safe too if you duplicate the wires in the old portion, as the cleaner may or may not be earthed.

How to replace a cord on hoover u5757-900

u5757-900, Hoover mach 4.7 vacuum: The power cord connects at the top of the machine, literally right behind the entry point of the cord. You don’t have to take any of the rest of the vacuum apart. I found that out after I did take the entire machine apart. The wires can be connected with pressure connectors.

Need to replace power cord on Hoover windtunnel need wiring help

without seeing this it would be difficult to describe. I would take it to a vac shop and let him show you. there are no real schematics for the wiring of these units. I usually would cut off the cable with a few inches of insulation to know where to install the new one and reuse the old terminals if needed.

Replacing power cord

I replace one on my U6439-900. I took the back cover off and had to cut the wires and put new wire nuts on. Then I secured them really well with electricians tape. Might help to even put on a zip tie around the wiring. Hope that helps.

Power cord

If the cord goes in at the top, take the handle off, then remove the tool holder, then you can get to the cord. If it goes in at the bottom, You have to take off the motor cover to get to the connecting end.
