I have 2 6x9 speakers up front 4 6 1/2 3-ways

I have 2 6x9 speakers up front 4 6 1/2 3-ways in the back and a 12inch fosgate woofer what amp do i need to run this system in a 1500 dodge truck

we need power ratings for all your speaker. and the woofer, need to know how many voice coils it has, & their impedence (in OHMS). and whats more important to you sound Quality or Really loud sound, depending on all the above, maybe a 5channel amp, or a 4channel amp & a class 'D' Mono amp to deal with the bass. Often this can work out cheaper because 5/6channel Amps are few & far between, so expensive.

Hello rjmiller4039,

Although amps with 5 channels are pretty rare, you can get one. Alpine, Boston Acoustics, Infinity, JL audio, MTX, and Polk all have 5-channels ranging in price from around $350 up to around $1,000. The Alpine PDX-5 will output 75X4 watts RMS for the front and rear stereo channels and 300 watts to the mono sub channel. It is priced at $599.99 at Crutchfield.

Hope this helps.

I replaced the 2 ohm 6x9's in my buick with the monsoon amp, with 4 ohm 6x9's. After i put the speakers in, almost no sound came out. I've read that you can wire them in parallel from one...

If you did wire these in parallel to get the 2 ohm load, you will loose your balance. Also, you may have to bridge your amp.
To do this, go from the positive of the amp to both positives of both speakers. Then from the negative of the amp to both negatives of both speakers. If you have a 2 channel amp, you will have to bridge it. Note, make sure your amp is 2 ohm stable.

hope this helps

Why does my 6x9 amp drop or not let the sound play at all when my subs are on? it just started to happen? they worked together fine before. i turn the subs off and the 6x9 work? but when i turn the subs on...

You probably have too much hooked up for the size of your power supply which is presumably a small car battery. You either need to get:

A) New, better bigger battery.
B) Capacitor in series with battery.
C) Both of the above.

Hey i had 2 car amps +for 4 speakers(140W maxi) and a sub 12inch

1 cap, either .5, 1 or 1.5 farad will be fine. they make 5 10 and 20 farad that cost way more than u need to spend for 400 watts RMS. i like the rockford fosgates, you can get a low cost Tsunami, just make sure you follow the charging instructions.

SPEAKER CONNECTIONS

You can go to checkers or auto zone and they can assist you with purchasing a tool that is designed specifically for pulling the fasteners that hold the door panels snug to the door frame itself-or you can use a good sized flathead screwdriver to do it and if any get damaged you can get new ones at the same stores to replace them-as far as the 6x9 speakers go you can most likelyjust plug them in parallel wired to the amp or at the speakers but it will drop your ohms a little(resistance) assuming that the speakers that are already in the vehicle are all 4 ohm speakers wiring the 6x9s parallel with a set of them would give you a 2 ohm load per channell at the amp-most amps today are stable at 2 ohms so it should be fine

Help needed

Maybe, but my question would be will the truck alternator carry the load without frying. Also you will need one hell-a-chous size of battery and ground leads in order to feed that much power from the front of the truck to the amps in the trailer in back. I would think that some really big boost capacitors placed at the amps would be in order too. Also, you didn't mention how many amps you were using and what amperage they would draw. That is criticial information before you can figure out every thing else. Good luck.

Sub woofer wiring

If you have a 500a2 and two 4 ohm single voice coil speakers, you have only one option. Connect one speaker to each channel.
