Frigidaire Electric Slide-in Range - Oven Flash
The oven was on Bake pre-heat, just before reaching 325 degrees there was a fire flash and smoke from the top and side of the oven door. The surface elements were not affrected but the display panel was out. Disconnected and inspected for fire indications as well as examining the top and bottom oven elements, rest the breaker and reconnected stove, display panel dead, did the bake and hold for 30 secs as well as clock and hold, no improvement.
Any suggestions??

thanks Bob, I really would have preferred to hear that i missed a breaker somewhere. I called Frigidaire's manufacturer in Canada, Electrolux and they have arranged for a free look by a licensed local service rep. Will find out Monday if that is the problem
Same problem; 3 1/2 weeks later. I contacted Electrolux (the manufacturer of Fridgidaire in Canada) and they paid for a service call to inspect the stove. The display panel had flash burns inside between the two folding circuit boards. The service company returned these to Electrolux and they have agreed to not charge for the part (~ $350) and all i need pay is fifteen to twenty minutes for the labour to replace the panel. Sounds like a fair deal to me, I'll know better on Wednesday when they come to replace it. Meanwhile, we had no stove for Christmas but we were invited for turkey dinner at a nephews. Only problem with that is you don't get to eat leftovers; sometimes the tastiest part of the experience.
moral of the tale??
Don't let you appliances breakdown just before a big holiday!!!
We have to hold panel button down for oven to start heating
the upper oven does not heat. The baking element was tested and not the problem. The baking element does not heat up (glow orange) when turned on. Is the heat sensor the problem?
