It sounds like the sub is not auto turning on, or has no audio output, and or the sub driver itself has failed. Do you have a multimeter, and we can diagnose the unit? :)
I have similar problem, It ends up is a connector having cold joint. You have to open up the cover and solder all connector from the bottom of the pcb. After that, it will works for a long time.
