I wonder if anyone can help explain what the likely problem will be with my Arcam AV300 amp. Whilst watching TV for no particular reason an extremely loud (what i can only describe as feedback) sound comes out of my B & W speakers for approximately 3 seconds, then silence as the Arcam switches off, I’m then unable to switch it back on for a period of time, (this varies between 5minutes to a few hours) when it eventually switches back on everything seems to be working perfectly. This has happened quite a number of times although it’s intermittent & occurring every 1 - 6 weeks.

No power output or display.green standby light flashes.

Sounds like either a blown mainpower fuse or the thermal fuse for the power transformer. If the protect circuit was kicking in, the display would light up, but then turn off with a red blinking light. the green light with no display means the transformer is not getting power.

When I switch on my Denon AVR 3300 , only the ON / Standby light flashes and no display

Hi
Are you familiar with electronics?
If and/or when the red led light is flashing it means the device is in protection mode.
1: check voltage regulators 5v and 12v which are the important parts to keep the device operating.
2: if there is a short circuit on the power amp, meaning the power output of the receiver.
3: check output Transistors.
Hope this will help or you can give these to a technician that can help you.
Good Luck

My Denon AVR-75 seems to stay in standby (red standby light is on) and I don'd get surround sound through it. How do I get it out of standby?

if the receiver does not power on from standby there is a problem like bad power supply or even bad macroprocessor. You need to bring it to a service center for diagnosing. 10-years old receiver, maybe better to buy new one.

We just purchased an LG, LED, LCD, TV and just realised that our existing Arcam AVR 100 does not have an optical out. Does this mean we need a new amp or are there alternative solutions? Many thanks.

Actually, it doesn't have ANY digital outputs. Just what do you require one for? Name specific models and functions when replying.

Do you think the TV NEEDS optical audio from the receiver? Maybe the TV could survive on just analog audio from the video source, while the GOOD audio goes to the ARCAM since the ARCAM is going to do the hard work of managing and driving the REAL speakers.

Check the standby transformer T752 first. if its primary winding is short the this problem can occur.

Arcam alpha 7 amplifier goes back into standby when volume is turned up

Hi,
Can you, or can someone you know, check for DC voltage on the speaker terminals when the amp is on, but not playing? Ideally, the meter should read 0mV with no signal, and certainly less than +/- 10mV. Anything over +/- 30mV is worth having checked out, especially if it changes as you turn the volume knob with no signal applied.

You're drawing too much power from it. Sounds like maybe your sub is hooked up wrong, double check that.

seeing that its bleenking red it letting you know that the main capassitor to the transformer has blown and if you keep it pluged in it will in a short time allow the transformer to smoke and it can overheat and catch on fire.....NO GOOD. Its 1 of Denon's problem's....I see it quit often.
it will cost around 300.00 to fix.

No Power

I mwas gonna suggest that you need the speakers attached but you stated later that it did the same thing with the speakers attached. The unit switching off after it checks its self is NOT a normal thing. TAKE IT BACK BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!! GOOD lUCK
