Unfortunately HP does not manufacture parts for the inkjet machines.

Testimonial: "Appreciate the info. Thank you. Now, is there a place to recycle my old HP that does not charge a fee? Or at least not much?"

I purchased a HP 97 cartridge for my used HP Photosmart 385, I needing to know if I'm using the right cartridge and/or do I need a black ink cartridge as well

yes, you are using the right cartridge and you do not really have to purchase a black cartridge but if you are planning on printing black and white photo, purchase hp 100 gray photo ink cartridge.

My refilled ink cartridge still displays empty and will not print

The ink cartridge is most likely chipped & you would not be able to reset the ink level. Purchase an original or a good compatible cartridge. Refiling newer cartridges is not a good idea.

My HP Photosmart C7280 does not recognise refilled cartridge.

Yes that is because when you get a cartridge refilled then what may have happened is when you gave a print command some of the ink may have splattered onto the ink spraying sensors(usually happens with refilled cartridges on any printer). Its because of the heat generated with which the ink nozzles cannot handle as the ink that is sprayed from refilled cartridges is a little more than regular original ink cartridges.Dip a cotton swab in water wipe the copper contacts on the cartridge. Then wipe around the place where the cartridges sit and also wipe the carriage rod which is inside the printer (metal rod)along which ur spraying mechanism(carriage) moves. If this does not resolve your issue call in to hp at 1800-474-6836 and you can purchase original cartridges that are just for 11 dollars each.........or you can purchase a combination pack which will be cheaper

How to load the new ink cartridge. HP Photosmart C5140.

Replace the ink cartridges (from the manual for the printer)

Follow these instructions when you need to replace ink cartridges.

To replace the ink cartridges

1. Make sure the HP All-in-One is turned on.
2. Open the ink cartridge door by lifting from the front center of the device, until the door locks into place.
3. Squeeze the tab below an ink cartridge to release the latch inside the HP All-in-One, and then lift the latch. If you are replacing the black ink cartridge, lift the latch on the far left.
If you are replacing one of the five color ink cartridges, such as yellow, light cyan (blue), cyan, light magenta (pink), or magenta, lift the appropriate latch in the center area.
4. Pull the ink cartridge toward you out of its slot to remove it.
5. Remove the new ink cartridge from its packaging, and then, holding it by the handle, slide the ink cartridge into the empty slot. Make sure that you insert the ink cartridge into the slot that has the same shaped icon and color as the one you are installing.
6. Press down on the gray latch until it clicks into place.
7. Repeat steps 2 through 5 for each ink cartridge you are replacing.
8. Close the ink cartridge door.
