Canon - Pixma MP150 printer/scanner won't scan in color.

Error 42 indicates scanner failure. It is sometimes caused due to loose /
faulty scanner cable that connects scanner to motherboard.

try shaking the ink cartridge then reinstall it again canon pixma ink

i had an mp150 and it was a good basic printer..from my recollections you open the desktop icon and choose scan to pc documents , try that

You need to control the scanner through your PC with canon software that came with your scanner otherwise you cant scan anything..first open the printer/scanner software ,select scanner,then place your document and command "scan" from the software.

E5 is the ink cartridges are not installed or non supported ink.This mean if you have both cartridges in printer one or both are failed.You can't scan, because scanner and printer are connected together and you can use the scanner only if printer is initialized.In your case this is not so.Check print cartridges and replace first color, if not help replace and black.

Please check if your scanner is connected to the computer and both are turned on. For the scanner to work directly from the printer your ink levels need to be accurate (dont ask why) however, if you have MP Navigator and connected to a PC, then i suggest you use that. It will scan even with low, unknown or zero ink levels.

scanner not working

Power up printer ,then Press&hold(STOP/RESET)button for 5 sec. Then restart printer.
Go to MP NAVIGATOR.Select SCAN/IMPORT,>OPEN SCANNER DRIVE>ADVANCE MODE>SIMPLE MODE.>select OK.I think it fix your problem.
