Make certain the AM/FM radio is off. You cannot squelch when it is on. Try adjusting again. If it does not stop the squelch noise, the switch is dirty or broken. To go further means taking it apart. You will try to "clean" the switch. Do you want to take it apart?

Uniden bearcat scanner bc142xl manual

Hello, the good news, though, is that all Uniden/Bearcat scanners in the 14X series are nearly identical in features and operation, so you can follow the link below to download/print the manual for the BC148XLT:

http://www.radiopics.com/1.%20Manuals/Bearcat/Bearcat%20BC148XLT%20%28Manual%29.pdf

You need adobe reader to read the content.

Good luck

How do i adjust the squlech on my unidenbc12xlt hand held scanner

The actual setting will vary according to the strength of the signals you're receiving, so it may require adjustment as you move around. With the unit scanning, turn the squelch down slowly until scanning stops and you hear a hissing noise. They slowly bring the level up until scanning resumes.

Uniden bc 350a

Hi, Is you CB gear grounded to an "earth" ground? Also try moving the scanner around, away from the CB coax, as your probably getting stray RF from there. I've run 100watt with my scanner 5ft. away from it and no problems for the last 6 years,,
You are using good quality coax, aren't you? Cheap coax leaks like a soaker hose. Hope this helps you,, Mechanic
