If it is a Universal Remote, probably you are not using the proper code If there is no better code, try to follow the procedur for inexistent code. If still you won't get a workable code, you have three option:
- Buy the original remote
- Buy another universal remote of some other brans and check if works
- Live with corrent, accespting that you can't modify the volume.
I would say the fuel in the tank is either stale or has too much, or incorrect oil mixed with it, drain the tank, rinse it out a couple of times with a fresh fuel/oil mix, now fill with fresh fuel/oil mixed at 50-1 and try again.
Tries unplug,replug the tv back like an hour later.The tv,now it will resetting itself back to the factory setting.The tv should work now.Not,than the power supply board is dead.That the board,where the power a/c cord plug into it.Try website Ebay.com to buy a refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
Change batteries.Reboot everythings.Tv unplug,replug couple mins later.Ur Directv box,push off/on for new update software.After that sould work.Rate me after u done this.

A lot of universal remotes won't do all of the functions.
better to buy a more expensive remote that has more code capabillity.
This is your best solution without buying the original.

to get rid of "replace lamp" push the blue action button on the remote and the volumn down on the tv set for a couple of seconds. this has to be done at the same time, good luck.
