There is a problem with the blanket. Since it started doing this just after washing (as per instructions), I suspect that somehow - running it thru the washer caused the problem.
Since it is an electrical device, if allowing to air dry thoroughly doesn't let it work as expected, you should stop powering it - and use it only as a non-powered blanket or discard and replace.
Yep..the element, or wire inside the blanket is probley broken, or touching just enough to work sometimes. No easy fix for this..and it would be dangorous to do it anyway..

I\'m having the same problem as Jenn. Tried unplugging it and left it for a day. Both sides are now not working. How can I get it to work again? Husband is having a hissy. Same problem, but now it is ok. I emailed Sunbeam and was told that if my blanket was not plugged directly into a wall outlet it was not getting enough power and I needed to plug it into a wall outlet taking these steps:
1) Unplug from the surge protector/extension cord
2) Unplug from the blanket
3) Plug back into the blanket
4) Plug into a wall outlet
