You should check settings of sound in your television and turn them into standard... hopefully this might work for you.

Can you give the make and model? Do you have anything plugged into the headphone jack? Maybe a broken off headphone plug?
'In the menus of the TV setup, is the sound output turned to one of the stereo output jacks? Some TVs mute the internal speakers if they are set for an external sound system

One HDMI input creates a sound problem - only faint and tinny sound.

Unless the jack is physically damaged, then the entire digital pcb would need to be replaced. Sometimes just the jack can be replaced, but that is a pretty tricky repair.

Portable dvd player dropped now has sound and faint picture

I usually prefer to fix things but here unless this is a very expensive unit let it go, it did enough damage to cause image issues and a screen hinge broken, if it can be repaired it will always be prone to some collateral issues that may show up later, like a small car in a accident, no matter how good the repair place is it will never be quite the same.

I have lost all sound on my tv. You can hear snapping or popping but the sound is real faint on highest setting.

Hello,

I am sorry to hear about your misfortune. Unless you changed some sound settings right before that happened then the likely cause is that your tv's internal speakers have blown. Which will cause that really faint sound even when the volume is all the way up.

If your TV has an audio out connection you can try hooking it up to surround sound or a receiver with some speakers. You may be able to use your tv this way and get sound.

Otherwise you will have to make use of your warranty if the TV is still covered. If not then there is nothing more I can suggest. Repair cost might be more than hooking it up to an external sound system.

Post back if you have any further questions or comments.Thank you for choosing Fixya.

The speakers stopped working. Only very faint

It may need to be repaired, It sounds like one of the internal speaker wires has come off. If under warranty then take it back to the seller if not than any television repairer should be able to help you

No picture or sound. MODEL #19LA20Q

The faint light indicates that there is not enough power being provided to the other circuitry as well the humming sound is a good indication that the power supply needs ot be replaced or repair. If your TV is less then a year old, still under manufacturers warranty.
Let me know if you require further assistance.

Very faint picture but sound is fine on my 50" Zenith plasma

Sounds like the Z-sustain board went bad. You will need the board replaced so make sure you find an LG authorized servicer.
