E appears on Salter scale, even with new batteries

It just stopped working one day. E appeared when I pushed on. No other information will display. I figured the batteries were dead. So I had new ones (tested-the batteries are good) put in and it STILL reads E.

How can I fix this? I have a glass top Salter scale. I think it goes up to 11 lbs.

I have a older Salter 6300 Kitchen scale and I accidentally dropped a full unopened soda can and it landed right on my scale. It was then reading "err" whenever I tried to weigh anything. I fixed it by recalibrating it. You hold down Off and On simultaneously and this will bring up "Cal" and then a 4 digit number will show up 3 thousand something. You then put 15 quarters for 85g or 20 nickels 100g. That 3000 number will move up in grams by what you add. Next hit OFF once and enter the weight in grams you added. For me it was 85g so I put 0085. Hit off again and you'll come to another 4 digit number. I figured this number is for the format or max weight allowed after toying with it by entering all kind of numbers. I found entering 9333 works best. Hit OFF once more and another 4 digit number shows. Here I found 0001 to work. Hit OFF one last time and you should see CAL F meaning calibration is finished. My scale is now working fine again.

I forgot to add that you use buttons on lift "zero" and"g/oz" to cycle through and change numbers.

Hi Jason! I made it to the 9333 part and after I hit "off" I get "Err" again. Can you explain a little more how you came up with 9333? Thanks!

Thanks. Worked first try. Still having some difficulty in getting the on button to work reliably though.

My digital kitchen scales have started showing 12.00 on the screen. I've tried removing the battery for r10 mins and replacing but problem is not solved. Help!

Remove all batteries from the back of your scale.
Leave the scale without its batteries for at least 10 minutes.
Reinsert the batteries. Check that the batteries have the correct polarity and are firmly in place.
Place your scale on a flat, even surface without carpet.
Press the center of the scale with one hand to wake it up. The scale will calibrate and display a series of dashes.
"0.0" will appear on the screen. Press on the center of the scale.

I have a Salter 9007 bathroom scale. It stopped working so I bought replacement lithium batteries and installed them

Do you still have the manual with the troubleshooting section in it? It looks like this is an overload condiiton or an indicator that something is not right. The manual can help you to sort this out.

Salter 9001 bathroom scale stopped working

Hi Pete. I don't keep receipts either : ^ )
No that I am done commeserating, try this. Remove the batteries. Use the eraser end of a common pencil to scrub and clean the battery contacts inside the battery compartment. Also pull the contacts a little closer to the surface if you can. Then reinstall the batteries and you may be up and running.

Salter kitchen Scales Model: 1041SVDR won't turn on.

This sounds very typical of kitchen and postal scales. I know you don't want to hear this, but this basically means it is time to replace your scale with a better scale - perhaps no longer giving Salter your business..

I changed the battery on bathroom scale Salter 987

I had the same problem with my Salter 987 scale. Pull the battery out for about 10 seconds and put it back in. Then push the scale once so it turns on. After the blinking stops, push it once more. The scale will now zero itself. After the scale has zero'd itself it may turn off after a brief moment. It's now ready to use normally. If you're standing on the scale when it's trying to calibrate to zero, it will assume your weight is zero. Don't stand on the scale after replacing the battery untill you first complete the steps listed above.
