No doubt you have some strips of lamps in the panel that have failed, soon the entire picture will go black. Sounds like your set has been zapped by a spike on the line. Now you know why UPS units and surge diverters were invented.
A new TV sounds probable as many components could be damaged. If you are lucky it could be just a fuse but I have my doubts.
Moral, invest in a surge diverter, it would have saved you a new TV

If you notice the time taken to start is more than what it was before, slowly the power supply board is developing problems, due to leaky or dry capacitors or dry solder.
