The wires probably broke. Check by the plug to see if you can tell if any are messed up. This is most likely your problem (happened to me with other brands as well) and means you will just have to buy a new pair.
This is usually caused by a short in the wire. The most cost-effective solution is to buy a new pair. "Shure" makes very nice ear bud headphones.
SOURCE: faulty sound
It can be either a dead speaker or (almost surely) a broken cable. The only way to find which and where is to dismantle it and test everything with an ohmmeter. Start with the volume casing and the piece of cable between it and the jack.
SOURCE: all of sudden my left ear bud stopped working. if
Skull Candy rarely has issues in the manufacturing process, but mistakes can happen to the best of us. Skull Candy has a lifetime warranty against defects on all their products, so if you contact the company they should be able to guide you through the replacement process. It sounds like too much stress was put on the cord, however. This can happen just from having the headphones in your pocket without being in a good quality case.
