Craig portable dvd player

I have a craig cdv550 dual screen that just stopped working. It won't charge with the car charger or plug outlet. There's no picture, no sound, nothing. It's only a few months old but out of warranty of coarse. Do I have to buy yet another one??

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. MY DVD IS FULLY CHARGED. BUT NO PICTURE AND NO SOUND. EVEN THE STANDBY LIGHT IS NOT SHOWING.

We also have the same DVD player with the same exact problem. It sounds like this is a manufacturing problem.

I had forgotten about this. Thanks for that suggestion. I'll have to keep that in mind in case it happen's again. Thankfully Craig has sent me a new one even though it was not under warranty anymore. They must have had problems with them. I'm on my third one.

i can't even open the dvd player ... there is a bottom on the front but I can't even move it to open to even see the inside!

Also have a Craig with a moved picture. Should I toss it? My other one works fine though.

I have this same DVD player and had the same problem. I have recently discovered that when we open the flip top, one of the "joints" that keeps the flip top attached to the player kind of pops out? We had to snap it back into place after opening the DVD player. Our light still does not come on but the player does work. Just a suggestion!

The player works when plugged into the car outlet or home outlet but i think the battery pack is not working. does the battery charge when plugged into the outlet? i'm not sure if it needs replaced or not...

Some portable DVD players will charge from a home outlet, but not a car outlet. You probably need a replacement, however.

From the item description it looks like its just 6 rechargeable AA connected in series, so you could probably make one pretty easily if you wanted to.

Portable dvd player will not play off outlet or car charger

There must be something wrong with the amount of power the power supply is providing. I would try and purchase another power supply, and see if it still happens. Another thing it could be is the port where you plug in the power cord, is the port loose or can you move it? If this is the case, it might not be receiving clean power.

Battery cahrger

The battery should be attached to the bottom of the player. It may also have it's own DC port to plug the charger into. Some players charge back through the player itself but Polaroid made batteries that have to be detached from the player and connected to the charger. Remember, unless tou have a battery on both units, one battery alone is not designed to power both screens, that is what the car adapter is for.
