Sounds like your cartridge is not properly seated and also may not be aligned properly.
Remove it and apply a thin coating of plumbers grease to the cartridge and then work it back into it's position rotating back and forth to insure it is going down all the way.

SOURCE: moen single handle shower faucet, contstanly drips

Moen single handle - push pull has a screw beneath the handle cover plate. The Moen single lever handle has an allen wrench screw located under the curve of the handle. Once either one of these screws are removed, the handle should come off easily.
Once the handle is off, the water must be turned off and then you can remove the cartridge. Some cartridges are difficult to remove and may require a special tool. Most new cartridge packages have information on them to explain how to remove the cartridge.

We had both the shower and the Bath tub remodeld and installed new Moen faucets with a single knob that turns right to left to open. All was fine for a couple of days but all of the sudden they startd...

You need to install a new moen cartridge its a single handle posi-temp cartridge you should be able to get 1 for free if you are the original owner by calling 1-800-buy-moen more than likely when soldering in the new valve a little bit of solder broke free into the cartridge or hard water. When the water gets turned off and then turned back on it can break free alot of particles that can get jammed up in these cartridges or any fixture for that matter you will need a cartridge puller to perform this job with ease.

HOW DO I FIX A LEAKING FAUCET ON A MOEN L3189

you need to remove the cartridge behind the handle. If it is dripping from the spout or shower head.
If you pull the handle to turn it on it is called a moentrol valve and take a number 1225 cartridge....it it just turns to turn on it is called a posi-temp valve and takes a 1222 cartridge.

Moen fauset # 1225 Shower new cartridge and it still drips.

is it official moen 1225 ? generics can be of poor quality. turn off house water and remove cartridge. Small fingers? Put in valve and feel for debris or turn on whole house again for a few seconds to flush out valve. try another cartridge. Or try this first. take off handle and push in on stem. does drip stop. ? perhaps handle is not on right.

Moen shower/tub faucet

hi... yes that's a very common issue with moen "cartridges" -- it's very simple to fix..... grasp the handle and give it a gentle tug upwards when the water is on... if it retracts again, pull the handle out again and tug again but this time a bit harder. Not sure what causes this on new cartridges but it will fix your issue.

Leaky posi temp shower valve

coming from the uk it sounds that when you mention it leaks at night its a possibility thats when the water pressure increases & the valve starts to drip?

i know its not a solution but it may help you understand why its dripping at night.

Also the seals might be damaged in which case thats why its dripping check them for damage. make sure when you put the new cartridge in that you put some silicone grease around the seals as this helps the insertion & helps protect the seals from damage.
