No audio on tv channels but perfect on DVD playback etc

Hi, very weird porblem, have hooked up the recorder to an LG plasma TV model 42PXDV-AA after having it already installed on a normal analogue TV and working properly. now we have perfect audio on DVD playback and even on stuff on the HDD recorded earlier, but just a squeaky clicking sound on the digital channels and no audio on analogue channels and even freakier when we record something and playback, it plays audio but like its really fast chip monk style and the picture is like still photos, has to be some stupid setting not right hey, but we've tried every thing. i know i had to set it to 576i for the analogue TV but cant remember how to change this setting and the manual is'nt helping appreciate any advice!!!

This looks very much like a problem I once 've had (and later found the solution by accident). When you go into the menu of the remote control and press the "automatic channel search" function you can always specify from which "source" the signal is arriving either 1, from antenna, (ie. over air) or 2, from cable or 3, from satellite. Then the decoder searches and finds a bunch of station in its reach. Once (while hooked up to an antenna) ,I had accidentally made it do the station search under the "cable" header instead of "antenna" and it found the same stations as the one's I've had before,(over antenna) but some stations suddenly had no more audio. Because I was unaware that the set was programmed under the cable header I could solve this strange mystery only much later when I reprogrammed it one day and it searched the stations under the Air-Antenna header, then suddenly all the stations were coming in properly, with good image and full audio. ------If this doesn't solve your problem then search under the menu of your set if at another part of it you can specify some other similar options like Antenna-Cable choice. I'm quite sure its easy to correct. good luck Alex

SOURCE: how to record digital tv thru reocrder

You need to go into the menu and set the "av-2 out put" to DTV, that should solve the problem, remembering to connect the "in" scart on the recorder to AV-2 on the tv.If there is only 1 scart on the recorder it will be a 2 way connection, sending and recieving a signal.

SOURCE: G'day, I have an LG HDD/DVD

You have probably found out now that you would need to get your digital reception by connecting a set top box to the LG, say to AV1, then select AV1 when making a recording.

How to hook up to panasonic tv & sony dvd player

DVD output (HDMI) to HDMI input on TV will transfer both audio and video from DVD to TV. Audio output on TV to unused Input on Yamaha receiver (Aux, CD, etc.). This hookup will allow DVD and TV channels audio playback through your Yamaha receiver. Remember to test any/all new hookups or connections using minimum settings (volume, etc.), and bring up levels slowly for the initial testing.

Im having problems hooking up thru vcr/dvd player

Hi,

The correct setup depends on whether you have a cable/satellite receiver and whether you want to record to and playback from the VCR. If you are using a cable/satellite receiver, this needs to be connected to both the TV and the DVD/VCR if you want to record. The DVD then needs to be connected to the TV via the video and audio out sockets on the back of the DVD/VCR for playback.

I can let you know exactly which connections to use and where they should all go, but I need to know the following details as otherwise I don't know which sockets/connect you have available.

1. Brand and model number of TV
2. Brand and model number of DVD/VCR
3. Brand and model number of any cable/satellite receiver if you are using one.

Please confirm these details and I will try to assist you further.

Regards,
BElectric

Have a toshiba tp 61H95 proj TV- want to connect panasonic dvd recorder and toshiba vhs recorder so I can copy family videos to dvd- can't get hook ups set up for both to work.

Select AV-1 or some thing in TV and plug DVD recorder Video-Audio output in AV-1 input of TV, playback any DVD and confirm its picture and sound in TV. Press Stop button of DVD recorder to stop playback.
Now plug Video-Audio output of VCR in DVD recorder input and select AV Input in DVD recorder, insert VHS tape in VCR and playback it and confirm you get VHS picture and sound in TV via DVD recorder.
Hookup between TV, DVD recorder and VCR is completed.
Playback VHS tape in VCR, Insert blank DVD disc in DVD recorder and press Record while you see VHS tape picture in TV.
Hope this info will help you.

Magnavox DV220mw9 won't record from Tv, hard to connect

check out this diagram, paying close attention to the audio video cable hookups.

assume the cable tv box represents the converter box

you are going to come out of the converter box audio and video outputs into the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo audio and video inputs.

Then out of the new magnavox dvd/vcr combo outputs to the inputs on the tv if it has such inputs. The TV will have to operate on the video input 1 or 2 if the tv has such a thing, use the remote for the tv to adjust the input signal to line in 1 or 2 depending on what it has.

If the tv has no coaxial input or audio video inputs then you might have to use an adapter, you can get these from radio shack.

You say it will not record from the tv, but in all actuality the dvd vcr combo is getting the signal from the converter box not the tv, do you understand what I mean here?

So the dvd vcr combo gets input from the converter box so you will have to set it to view signal from the line input you have plugged in from the converter box. line 1 or 2 or whatever the input is.

the tv will have to be set on the line input to view the signal from the dvd vcr combo.

That is as easy as I can put it. Study the diagram closely. You will see what I mean.

Recording from LG 42pc1dv plasma tv to LG v782w VCR

If it does this on all channels then the video on your AV out from the TV is bad.

If it only happens with some channels then this is Macrovision protection working which will not allow you to record premium channels and any that are using this protection.

I am having problems hooking it up to an HD Receiver from Direct TV

playback and record are 2 different things. playback, you connect the DVD player audio-video OUT to the audio-video IN of the TV. recording, you connect the DVD player from the audio-video IN to the audio-video OUT of the source (i.e. cable box, set-top box, etc) hope this helps!
