SOURCE: oil pressure gauge reads past 80

now unless there is a very loud knocking of the motor which would mean that the engine's top end was not getting any oil I would say that your oil guage is sprung and needs replacing. a high pressure rating would indicate a restriction in the oil flow pasdt the sending unit or a plugged oil filter. if the filter were plugged you would know it because your enging would run tight in no time at all. replace the guage itself... please rate this........thanks

SOURCE: High oil pressure reading

Hi, this is a oil pressure sensor malfunction. the gauge is getting a distorted reading from the sensor. replacing the gauge will fix this issue. also, check the fuse box for blown fuses.

SOURCE: oil pressure gauge is showing max pressure. Figure that sensor is bad???

I agree with you, replace the oil pressure sending unit.

SOURCE: oil pressure gauge shows low / high / middle changed sensor did

Hello mb4494: My name is Roger and I will help you. If by changing the oil pressure sending unit the problem did not change. I would perform a oil pressure test. This is done by removing the oil pressure sensor and inserting a oil pressure gauge. This can be done by yourself or by a repair shop. This needs to be done on a cold engine. Start the engine and observe the oil pressure cold.as the engine warms up observe the pressure. The pressure will drop off as the engine warms up.Should the oil pressure drop below 10 to 12 PSI. then you have internal engine trouble. More then likely a bearing problem. Try dropping the truck into gear and see what the pressure drops off to. Again if the pressure drops below 10 to 12 PSI. you have a problem. I would also check to make sure you have the correct oil switch. a truck with a oil light uses a oil pressure switch. with a gauge you would use a oil pressure sending unit. Sorry for the long reply but want to make sure you check the pressure correctly. Please rate the quality of the answer as this is how we know the answer was correct. Thank You for using Fix Ya. SOURCE: Oil pressure gauge drops after running and sitting still

The Oil pressure sensor seams to have gone bad and needs to be replaced soon as possible as they tend to leak oil soon after. There common to go bad and start with that since it's easier then replacing the oil pump, but if you don't hear any ticking from the engine and you have good pressure when the engine is cold then it's the sensor.
The 4 cylinder oil pressure switch is located below the A/C compressor. It is a single wire connection with a gray/yellow striped wire.

The 6 cylinder oil pressure switch is located on the passenger side rear of the block. It is a single wire connection with a gray/yellow striped wire.

Good luck and hope this helps.

Why does my Ariston Combi Boiler not make hot water?

Boiler set to central heating only?
Needs pressurizing?
Seized diverter valve?

Low water pressure or low boiler pressure is one of the most common faults Ariston boilers experience (as is common in many other brands too). In the event that your Ariston boiler's pressure does drop too low, the boiler will stop working or "lockout" and display the 108 fault code on the interface.

Hi There, I have an Ideal Response 120 Combi Boiler. Each day the water pressure falls to 0 on the pressure gauge. In order to get hot water and Cental Heating I increase the pressure to 1.5. The Hot water...

I have the same boiler with a similar issue. The water is more than likley leaving the system from the pressure relief valve, which will be routed outside. It sounds like you have lost the pressure in your expansion tank, which is inside the boiler. With the boiler pressure at zero and the power isolated, the expansion tank can be accessed from a panel at the top of the boiler on the right hand side. You will see a valve on the red expansion vessel like the one on a car tyre and can be pressurised with a car tyre air pump. I think from the manual the pressure should be about 1 bar, but it depends on the length of pipework on your system. A competent boiler engineer should be able to sort this out, but it may be that your valve is leaking, or the expansion vessel has failed and the problem will occur again.

Combi Boiler pressure gauge reading 0, and radiator half on!

The first thing you need to do is to put some more water into your heating system. This is usually done by allowing water from your (pressurised) domestic cold water supply to flow into the system: On older boilers, this is done with a connection (often made with a removable hose) on the pipework just outside the boiler. Newer boilers may have a built-in connection with some sort of removable link (sometimes looks like a plastic key).

Once you've got the boiler up to working pressure (typically about 1 bar - 15 psi), you should be able to bleed your upstairs radiator properly.

This may be all it takes, though the pressure excursions you're getting when you run the hot tap suggest there may be another problem. See what happens to the pressure as the boiler heats up and cools down. There really ought to be very little pressure difference between the two conditions. If you see significant changes, this usually means that the "pressure vessel" (or in hydraulic terms, system accumulaor) has lost its air charge.

The pressure vessel is a metal container inside the boiler, usually painted in red enamel. Somewhere near the top, you will find a schrader valve (like the one on a car tyre), and you can use this along with a tyre pump to replenish the air in the top of the vessel. This will reduce your pressure transients for a while, but you need to keep an eye on it. If the problem returns, you probably need to replace the pressure vessel (or clag another one into the plumbing alongside the boiler).
