Paper jam in a Dell 1710

A paper is jammed in the back, behind the rollers that send the paper out of the printer. It is folded up like one would fold a piece of paper to make a fan. How do I get it out?

We frequently see the same issue with our 1700, 1710, and 1720 printers. We have tried disassembling the printers, but have not yet found a way to get to the problem area.

    Below are a couple pics:

This is a terrible terrible printer. Aside from taking the printer apart it seems like your only option is to pick the paper out bit by bit with needle nose pliers.

Left corner is folded down on page

Sounds like an issue with the feed rollers. The roller on the left side might be hung up and is causing the corner to fold over when the paper is pulled through. I would try checking the feed rollers in either the actual tray or the back of the printer. Another thing to check is the other tray (the manual one). Does the paper fold? this should help you narrow down where the problem lies.

Online error light nothing prints

I have a ML 1710 .Not my area of expertise but I took out the paper and could not see a jam. Took toner out , a little cleaning, plugged and unplugged from computer several times. I found paper jammed in the very back ,folded so tight nothing was showing. Mine has a back door and the paper is having trouble rounding the last bend and coming out. So I leave the back door open to get my copies. Green light on.

Sharp 2300n gets paper jam. It fold paper like an

When you clear the paper from the machine at the fusing unit, you can see 8 pawls, it looks like a hook but in a flat design. They should be touching the heat roller ( each has a spring to make it flexible ). If one not touching the heat roll it will caused the paper stuck to it so you will have the accordion paper jam.

HP Laserjet 4M makes accordion folds in the paper before jamming

I have found that with laser printers that have an occasional "crinkle" problem that "fanning" the paper does alleviate the problem ... but it will not if there is an actual feed/hardware problem with the rollers

Paper jam

This video explains how to resolve a recurring paper jam on your product. It sounds like the rollers on the rear access door may not be working properly and are making jamming the paper as it starts to feed up into the printer? Check the rollers on your rear access door and see if they have some give in them and roll freely.

Hp c6180 keeps erroring that there's no paper, when it does recognize paper

folded corner is 2 things
a) it's gettig folded somewhere along the paper path ( you would have to stop it at every step to see at what point it gets folded)

b)usually the fuser claws are the problem ( right before the exit the part that gets hot has some claws that ride ON the heat roller 3-5 depending on the machine, one is going bad )

Dell 1700n Laser Printer Jam trouble

If it?s always in the same spot then you can narrow your search for the problem. -Look where the leading edge of the paper is getting jammed up for an obstruction, especially if the paper is folded in an accordion fashion. Look closely, I?ve fixed many a paper jam by pulling out a corner of a page stuck in a recess. -If the paper path is clear then the next thing I would suspect is the paper you are using. -Try new paper that isn?t bowed, folded or curled. Before inserting into the paper try flex it back and forth along the width and length, then insert making sure to slide the two side guides and the back guide until they fit snugly against the stack of paper. -Other things to check are the rollers where the leading edge of the paper is getting stuck. Make sure they are clean. -Also make sure your toner cartridge is inserted into the printer correctly. If you have a spare try using that, sometimes cartridges can drag on the paper.
