File transfer issue in Canon IXUS 100is.

I have Canon IXUS 100 is. The problem I am facing is with file transfer from the camera. The video files of large size or sometime even normal 200mb etc get stuck. I am using windows xp machines and transfer directly by connecting USB cable to camera. I have read few reviews and some other customer also face same problem. What to do?

Using a card reader is not a solution. It's a workaround. It's useless to not be able to copy the files from your camera without a card reader. It's a problem that canon needs to adress.

Try using a separate card reader to download your videos to a folder you create on your desktop.

I have no sound on my Canon IXUS 95 IS

There are a few potential reasons why you may not have any sound when recording a video on your Canon IXUS 95 IS camera:
  1. The camera's microphone may be malfunctioning or damaged. Check to make sure that the microphone is not blocked by anything and that it is enabled in the camera's settings.
  2. The volume may be turned down or muted. Make sure that the volume is turned up and not muted in the camera's settings.
  3. The sound file may be corrupted or missing. Try transferring the video file to your computer and playing it with a different media player to see if the sound works.
  4. The camera may be in a mode that disables sound recording. Check to make sure that you are recording in a mode that allows sound recording, such as the video recording mode.
If none of these solutions work, it is possible that there may be a hardware issue with the camera's microphone. In this case, you may need to bring the camera to a repair shop or contact Canon customer support for assistance.

Canon IXUS 100IS - 'Lens error, restart camera' message

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ... Unfortunately, many cameras that fall prey to this can only be corrected by professional repair. But, here are some things that you can do that may correct it. They only seem to work for less than 40% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

Canon ixus camera says my movie clip is an error

The video files your particular camera makes should be AVI format. What media player are you using? I've heard of problems playing AVI files with Windows Media Player.
Try using a different media player like VLC or Winamp. There are also video format conversion programs out there for free. I use anyvideoconverter for that. You can get all of those programs from cnet.com's download center.

.thm video files

Here is some info from fileinfo.com :
Video thumbnails are often created on digital video cameras and digital cameras that record video; THM files may or may not be transferred to the computer depending on what software is used to import the video; each THM file shares the same filename as the video clip it represents, i.e. "clip001.avi" and clip001.thm."

Query on videos taken on camera

It's not necessary. It's the thumbnail picture file (those tiny mini pictures that let you preview what each file is when perusing a folder). If the file is missing, and you select "view thumbnails" in your folder menu, your computer will automatically recreate them if needed.
