Stitch length/width from screen - sometimes goes to specific selection, sometimes not. Sometimes I can adjust the length and/or width and sometimes not. It seems to be random and not related to how hard or soft my touch is to make the selection.Stitch length/width from screen - sometimes goes to specific selection, sometimes not. When you press the level the machine goes in reverse. When you turn the dail to O it goes in reverse. The dail is somehow out of alinement and that is what I am searching for the adjustment that would bring the machine to O and the adjustment that would lengthen the stitch forward. When I push teh level for reverse it does go in reverse. I guess the question would be if you would like to lengthen the stitch further than the dail currectly allows how do you do that. THanks!

Doing a google search for the brand plus model number for a user guide or YouTube videos might find what you are looking for. That it is a Necchi doesn't supply the model number and of course models differ. On a 537L model, the large knob on the right side about halfway between the top and bottom of the machine adjusts stitch length. The numbers may range from 0 to 5 with 0 meaning no length and 5 being the largest length. Tension, stitch length and stitch width are all controlled by small dials on the front of the Necchi machine. If your stitch length is set to 0, the sewing machine will not feed the fabric. Incorrect tension will cause poor stitch quality. You must consult you machine's user manual to know how to adjust the tension as the procedure differs among machines. Here is a general guide, however:
The following should help your memory.
Regulating the length of the stitch: The machine can be adjusted to from six to thirty stitches per inch, as indicated by the numbers on the stitch indicator plate. Changing the length of the stitch is accomplished as follows: Loosen the stitch length stop control (B, Fig. 12) and move it to the bottom of the slot. Move the stitch length lever (A, Fig. 12) to the desired stitch length. Now, move the stop control up until the control plate (visible in the stitch length slot) touches the bottom of the stitch length lever. Tighten the thumb screw (B) with finger pressure only. At this point, the stitch length is "marked," and you can move the lever up to sew in reverse at approximately the same stitch length, and then return it to your desired forward length.

Please provide the make and model of your machine. There is generally no adjustment to the presser foot for selecting a straight stitch. You just need to use the specific presser foot that the owner's manual recommends for a straight stitch. The adjustment is made to the stitch length and stitch width selectors. But, since we don't know which machine you have, we can't help.
It is generally the large knob on the right side about halfway between the top and bottom of the machine. The numbers should range from zero to 4 or 5. Zero is zero stitch length, five would be the largest stitch length.
Mar 3, 2015 - The majority of sewing machines indicate stitch length in millimeters. A 2.4 stitch length means each stitch will be 2.4 mm long. ... When you adjust the stitch length, it's not the needle that is changing, it's the feed dogs (those ...

Learn how to select stitch length when using your sewing machine for ... also not so small that it will take forever to get through your machine.
There is no reverse button, it is a lever. The stitch length lever also reverses the feed dogs - when down, it runs forward - at zero, it does not feed at all and when moved up, it reverses the machine. Set your stitch length by loosening the thumbscrew on the vertically moving lever and sliding the plate into position while moving the lever up to the desired mark. Tighten the screw and move the lever down to sew - to reverse just move the lever up until it hits the stop to sew the same stitch length in reverse.
Hi there, don't know your machine but you can do a plaiin buttonhole manually.
Set machine up for zigzag stitch, needle to left side, mark out the size you need with pins or marker pen. Start at the top and set for widest zigzag with 0 length for the top bar, cannot give sizes as don't know the button you are using, about 6 stitches, set stitch width to just over half the width of top bar and length to approx 0.5. Stitch down to bottom marker and again set up ffor the wide bar, do the same amount of stitches as the top, finish with needle down at the outside edge, turn work so that you will now stitch down the other side to meet the top bar, not forgetting to adjust stitch length and width again.
Hope this helps
Ellie
You can adjust the length of the Zigzag (Satin) Stitch using the buttonhole fine-adjusting screw. You will find it right above your stitch selection dial.
> For a longer stitch length, turn the buttonhole fine-adjusting screw with a large screwdriver in the + direction. > For a shorter stitch length, turn the buttonhole fine-adjusting screw with a large screwdriver in the - direction.
