My Maytag steam dishwasher # MDBH980AWS won't do anything when I hit the start/cancel button. Nothing happens no lights go on. When I his the cycle select button only a few of the lights go on - steam clean, High Temp wash & Sanitize. The heated dry button, or the Heavy, Normal, Light cycle buttons won't light up. How do I get it started?

My Maytag dishwasher # MDBH950AWW wont turn on no light but it has power in the outlet no power to the control board

Is the float switch stuck? This on the bottom right hand side. It's about 3 inches across and circular. It floats up when the water fills the compartment and switches the water off at a set level. HOWEVER, if it's stuck in the up position it this that there is already water in the washer and will not turn on the washer. No lights etc. grab the round float and pull it up and down for a few minutes to free it up. It worked for me. I do this every few months just to keep it from sticking.

The "clean" button is flashing & none of the other cycles work.
heated dry and high temp wash
toggle till all the lights light up
then hit cancel
you should be able to turn dishwasher back on
you probably have a bad heater
is it flashing 7 times
take kick panel off and look to the rear of the dishwasher
is anything burned
if the clean light keeps blinking replace your heater

WE JUST INSTALLED A NEW MAYTAG DISHWASHER. IT WON'T START. THE CYCLE LIGHTS WORK BUT WHEN YOU PRESS THE START/CANCEL BUTTON NOTHING HAPPENS. THE CYCLE LIGHT EVENTUALLY GOES BACK OFF.

Kitchenaid kudso1dlss3 clean light flashing cannot do a new cycle
I do not have the same model as you, my model is KUD01ILBS6 but I have the same problem. A service tech told me it was a error code and here is how to fix it.

1 open the dishwasher door
2 hit high temp scrub button
3 then hit energy saver dry button
4 do step 2 & 3 again
5 close the door
6 hit the cancel button
7 you can hit cancel button again then try to start your dishwasher

This works for me, you may have to do this every few months because there is a glitch in kitchenaid where if the water temp is not sensed right it will keep the dishwasher from working. It took me 3 service calls to find this out.

I just read this for the same problem: push sanitize, then heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, cancel, then open and close the door. It worked. The dishwasher is running correctly even as I type this.

Maytag Dishwasher Doesn't Start
on a dishwasher an ohmmeter is almost useless. the best way to check is to look for voltage. at the door switch check for voltage to ground on both sides. if you have 120 on both sides of the switch then follow the wire over to the control board. if you have 120 going into the control board and nothing coming out of the control then you nood to start looking for a broken neutral. however the likelyhood that its the control panel may be a better idea especially if you are hitting buttons and nothing happens. try reseating any ribbon cables
