Usually yes if no water to icemaker could be water valve solenoid. . first you can remove cover on icemaker and put the unit thru a test mode. find the plastic or medal cam in center of icemaker head when cover is removed., theis is a flateblade screw center get a small screwdriver and turn screw counterclockwise for about a 1/4 of a turn , icemaker will start cycling if icemaker ok then it will go througha cycle let it do its thing usually a few minutes for it to cycle, if fills you may have a bad icemaker, if no fill then valve may be bad. make sure you have good water pressure from your water supply that can cause icemaker problems.

You could have a bad icemaker, the freezer might not be getting cold enought to activate the icemaker or you could have a bad water valve.

Ge profile refrig - watrer dispenser does not deliver water. Ice maker works fine. What is wrong?

Water solenoid at the rear of the fridge has failed, there is two or three solenoids there, locate the one that does water feed to the door (not ice maker) and do a load test or just replace. Also make sure you dont have a filter safety cut-off, check filter cond and it is located perfectly in housing, check lines inside and outside fridge unit for obstructions. Good luck.

I have a side-by-side (MDL: 106.53552202). My ice maker has stopped working... I do get water from the door. The ice container is empty, the switch is turned ON.

there could be a blockage of frozen water in the fill tube of the ice maker.
if there is no blockage then the nex thig to check is the main water valve that supplies the water to the ice maker.
you can check the power from the main pcb board to the ice maker and make sure you have current to the ice maker
if all else fails replace the ice maker
i hope this has helped in some way good luck

Icemaker makes shells. Outside is frozen but

Hollow cubes are caused by not having enough water in the ice mold. Fill it up manually by pouring water in it and see how the cubes turn out.
look for an adjustment behind the plastic endcover with a +/- on it. - is less water. + is more water.

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

There is a screen filter before the water inlet valve in the water line. It can get partially stopped up with sediment blocking water flow.

The ice maker suddenly stopped making ice. The "arm" is down. Should it be up?

arm down ...Pour about 1/2 cup of water into ice maker . If it dumps , replace the water valve . If doesn't dump , replace the ice maker . Also make sure the coils are clean of dust , lint , etc...

ICE MAKER NOT MAKING ICE, WATER NOT FEEDING INTO ICE MAKER

you may have a frozen inlet tube coming in to the ice maker. This is caused from a bad water valve and you would need to replace the water valve.

Kenmore Ice Maker

Sounds like a water valve problem to me. Force the ice maker to cycle. (turn it off and let it get cold for at least an hour then turn it back on). Test for voltage on the ice maker side of the valve. The valve is usually in the back near the floor. Just follow the water line. Another solution. switch the wires on the water valve. then try the water dispenser and see if it makes the ice maker fill up. See if when the ice maker cycles water comes out the door. If the ice maker causes water in the door , replace the valve, If door switch causes ice maker to fill up replace ice maker again.

Icemaker

You might have a frozen line. Also and this seems more important to you its prob to cold, Trust me to cold of a refrig will cause hollow ice cubes first leading to a frozen line. Clean your coils, if you have another refrig empty out into that, unplug it leave doors open a couple days. If you can get to water line use a hair dryer from a distance defrost line, turn down freezer half knotch 1 full one at maximum. should fix issues, especially if filter already changed. If this all check prob a clogged line, not just frozen.
