Ice Maker Doesn't Turn Off

If your ice maker keeps making ice, even when it is full:
1Lift the bail wireto shut off the ice maker, and remove the ice bin. Then, using a screwdriver if necessary, remove the ice maker, clean it thoroughly, and then reinstall it.
2If the problem persists, consider removingand replace the entire ice maker and valve. With this type of problem, you can have it repaired, but it's often wiser and less expensive in the long run to replace the unit entirely.

Ice Maker Is Frozen Up

This ice maker repair is even easier. If your ice maker has frozen up, take the following steps to thaw it out:

1Unplug the refrigerator.Remove the ice bin from the refrigerator and remove any loose ice from the ice maker.

2Find the fill tube. This isawhiterubber-like hose that delivers water to the ice maker. Pull down the small metal clip off the housing that holds the fill tube (though not all ice makers have this clip).

3Warm the hoseand surrounding mechanism. To do this, you can train a hair dryer on the ice maker to melt any ice blocking the mechanism. But be very careful (sop up any dripping water with a rag) as electricity and water can present a serious risk of electrical shock. Also, be careful not to melt the plastic parts.

4If you don't want to use a hair dryer, you can soak the supply tubing with hot water, using a turkeybasterand catching the overflow in the empty ice maker bin. In some cases, it may be easier to remove the ice maker than to thaw out the fill tube.

On heat release ice makers You will want to check the heating element within the ice maker for continuity and a visual inspection of the board and conductors for burns and seizing, charedmarks.
How to Test the Ice Mold Heater
There are two types of ice makers, those in which all of the parts can be individually replaced and those in which some of the parts are clustered together into a control module. To determine which model you have remove the outer face plate. If there is knob, pull it off first, then pry off the face plate with a small screwdriver. Modular units have holes in the module's face plate for test probes. If you see several holes, each marked with a letter, it is a modular unit. It is easier to work on this type of unit by first removing the entireicemakerfrom the freezer compartment. The unit is usually mounted to the freezer case by two or more screws. Remove the bottom screws first. While supporting the ice maker, remove the remaining top screws. Unplug the ice maker from the freezer cabinet if you have not already done so.Along the edge nearest the shutoff arm, a pin protrudes through the mounting plate. The arm pin has a spring under the mounting plate. Reduce the tension on the spring by moving the shutoff arm into the "on" position, down, against the ice maker.
Test the heater for resistance using amultitester. Set themultitesterto the ohms setting X1. Touch one probe to each of the two terminals (or wires). The reading should be in the range of 60 to 90 ohms. If you get a significantly different reading, such as zero or infinity, then the mold heater is bad and needs to be replaced.Conduct this test with therefrigerator unplugged. Test the moldheaterfor resistance using amultitester. Set themultitesterto the ohms setting X1. Place one probe into the hole labeled "H" and the other probe into the hole labeled "L". Themultitestershould read in the range of 60 to 90 ohms.
Also be sure to check and test water valvewith a meter for continuity and voltage..( a full 120 and nothing less) And a visual inspection for any ice build up or blockage in tubing and flow line. Remember u may get a close circuit reading of continuity however it may still be bad in that it may remain constantly closed and water keeps flowing more than suppose to. Hence chunks of ice build up.

SOURCE: Ice dispenser only dispenses crushed ice

Pull out your ice bin. In the back of the bin you will see a rod protruding from one side. That rod goes into an opening in the rear of the freezer. There is a solenoid behind that opening that raises and lowers the arm on the ice bin giving you crushed or cubed ice. Check to see if that solenoid is froze up or if your rod got stuck under it. If all check ok then replace that solenoid.

SOURCE: ice dispenser will not switch back to cubed from crushed

Had the same problem, dispenser stuck on crushed ice, even when cubed ice is selected.  There is a magnetic switch behind the panel where the motor for the ice dispenser is.  It gets water in it and freezes so it is not free to go up and down.  It is always down for crushed, but for cubed ice, the magnet pulls it up.  when it's frozen with ice, all you'll get is crushed.  You'll have to defrost it.  You can defrost the whole freezer, but better to just remove the ice dispenser and defrost that. Three 1/4'' bolts hold secure it.  You'll have to unplug the wires from the back of the freezer to remove the unit. The just let it defrost and dry. You can remove the switch from the panel and dry it out too.   I've had to to this several times and am looking for a solution to keeping water out of the thing so it won't freeze again. Has anybody solved that?

SOURCE: Ice dispenser only dispenses crushed ice

You may not need to replace the solenoid.  If you hear the hum, and not a loud click and don't see then rod move, it may be frozen with ice.  Test it manually with your hand, it should be free  to move up and down.  If not, then it is frozen with ice.  Remove the ice dispenser and let it thaw and dry out.  You should then be able to move to rod and it will work fine, at least until it freezes again.  Anyone know how to prevent it from freezing up? Its a continual problem for me

My Samsung Model: RF4287HARS refrigerator stopped DISPENSING ice. It makes it, but only water comes out of both push levers now. I get ZERO help from samsung customer service. There is nothing in

The problem is actually in the dispenser lever. The paddle that you press to dispense ice has a plastic lever/arm that extends behind it (you can't see it, it's up high in the assembly.) This plastic lever presses upwards when you push the paddle and presses into a switch. The switch actuates the ice. This little lever is also the ONLY thing that stops the paddle from continuing to press into the water paddle. So when the lever breaks, it creates your two symptoms - no ice and if you press further, you press the water switch and get water.

You need part# DA97-08519A. This is the lever assembly with the switches. You pry the control panel assembly (the whole digital display above the water/ice dispenser) out by inserting a slim pry bar (I used a pocket knife and didn't damage the finish) on one side and working my way around. The assembly is held in place by five plastic tabs (two on each side and one on the top.) When this is removed, the part# above will be obvious.

How to make the ice maker work

Problems with Ice Maker/Water Dispenser
If you are not getting ice, make sure the water valve is open and the ice shutoff switch or arm is not in the "Off"
position. Inspect the ice ejector arm for blockage and remove any trapped ice with a plastic spoon. If you recently
emptied the ice container, remember that it takes your refrigerator up to 24 hours to produce ice.
Low water pressure is the major cause of problems with the water/ice door dispenser. Low water pressure can cause
inadequate water flow and small or hollow ice cubes. Check the water line for kinks that may interfere with water
flow and make sure the water valve is open. A dirty water filter can color the water and ice cubes, impede water
flow or cause water to have an off taste so remove, clean and replace it.
If water is leaking from the door dispenser, make sure the water glass remains under the spout until the water
shuts off completely. If you recently changed the water filter, air that was left in the line may cause water to
spurt from the dispenser. To flush the water line, let water run from the dispenser for approximately three minutes
or until you draw out 1.5 gallons of water. Try to find a container that will fit under the dispenser spout so you
do not have to start and stop to empty the container.

Have a nice day my friend : )

The ice maker will not quit dispensing ice and it no longer cools

For now unplug the pin plug at lower freezer door hinge and disable the dispenser control board until we see if the keyboard or the dispenser board is at fault. Sea Breeze

Front ice/water dispenser stopped working.

I had the same problem. Turned out to be a microswitch under the lever used to activate it. The microswitch fell from the original position so it wasn't turning on anything. I tried gluing into position but the fumes from the crazy glue messed up the switch and I had to replace the whole rig.
The part is under the control display. You can pry it open from the left side.

TFX22CR GE refrigerator TFX22CRXFWW does Not dispense ice.

I had this problem with a similar refrigerator. The problem was the slide switch burns itself especially if you slide it from ice to water while holding the glass in to get ice and water into your glass. Better to slide it to ice, press the glass in to get ice, release the glass to stop the ice, slide the switch to water, then press the glass in again to get water. I "fixed" mine by removing the control panel and soldering some of the connections on the slide switch together so that we now have no crushed ice function, but the ice cubes work again. You can also replace the circuit board in the control panel to restore it to like-new operation. I could not find a place to order just the slide switch.

Not sure if this is the same problem with your unit, but sounds the same.
