I find the best way to connect any equalizer is to connect via the tape monitor sockets, assuming that the AVR has one. From the equalizer in and out sockets - connect the Eq OUT to Tape IN on the AVR. And Eq IN to Tape OUT on the AVR.
Some AVR don't allow connections, due the equalizer interfering with Surround Sound systems. If you can connect switch off the equalizer when listening to Dolby or other surround formats, as it will spoil the sound.

SOURCE: Denon AVR 1803

Hello, I think that you've got a problem in the relay circutry or a logic problem. tell ya what I ve got the service manual and schematic for the reciever. the engineers at denon where ahead of there time when this company started. they designed the equipment around what they wanted the specs to be for signal to noise and discrete audio channels. each of the sound channels from the component and composite inputs is given its own bus and amplifier channels. these paths are also common to the reciever/tuner outputs. one question though you mentioned that the composite/component video paths are not switching from the input to the output youve designated, and that the monitor checks good. do you have another video source, either digital or analog that you can input throgh another channel to see if it is infact a switching problem. try that and let me know. I can give you help with the switching circutry form the schematic if need be. believe me I know It took me about a week to track down the service schematic for this unit. Denon doesn't like giving out info unless you are an authorized repair center.

SOURCE: Denon AVR-1803 shuts down

I am a Tech in Michigan and have worked on lots and Lots of Denon AV Receivers. These units have Protection circuits for Overcurrent, Dc Protect, 15v Regulator inbalance, Rail Voltage Inbalance, Low Ac Voltage, Low Standby Voltage and Thermal Protection just to name the ones I remember. My guess is you Probably have either Poor Intermittent solder connections or Amp is not Ventillating Properly. Make sure you leave room above Receiver to Vent and You are using no Less then 6 ohm speaker Impedance per ch. Refer to Speaker Impedance chart on back panel . [email protected]

SOURCE: My Denon AVR 1803 turns

hello runj69 your receiver is going to standby because you have a problem in the output ckt, the first thing is to check the connections to make sure no speaker are touching and if not you need to repair the output ckt, most of the time are the xtors.

SOURCE: shuts off then red light indicator flashes, disconnected all speakers but still wont work

Hi, this is a power board issue. remove the cover and make sure that this unit doesn't have blow fuse. if the fuse is fine, you will then need to replace the integrated power/ main board.

How can I connect my I pod Touch to my Denon AVR 1803 receiver?

The best way to connect an older IPod or other MP3 player to the AVR-1803 is to use a 3.5 mm (M) to RCA audio cable. This will work for audio on all IPods (and video on some of the older IPods). Here's an example: http://www.amazon.com/3-5mm-Audio-Video-Cable-iPod/dp/B000STBSU4 . Connect the 3.5 mm end to the headphone jack; the RCA plugs go into one of the AVR-1803 RCA inputs.

For some IPods, try a connector like this: http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Unlimited-iPod-Connector-Cable/dp/B000CBFVXS . This connects to the docking port on the IPod.

I hope this helps.

How can I connect my I pod Touch to my Denon AVR 1803 reveiver?

Connect the 3.5mm cable to the iPod headphone output and the two RCA plugs into any unused analogue audio input on the Denon AVR 1803. Then choose the appropriate input on the Denon, press play and enjoy the music. Be careful about volume. Start with the volume on the iPad low and adjust to suit.
Cheers, Don.

How do I turn tape monitoring on my Denon AVR 3803 on/off? I recently purchased a set of Series V Bose 901's and I am having a difficult time figuring out how to activate the equalizer.

Short answer from personal experience.

There is no way around this part. Get a separate power amp for the 901's if you want to use them in a multichannel way or alongside non-901 speakers.

Connect the Active EQ between the pre-outs and the amp input. Run speaker assignment, levels, etc and have fun.

Oh, but you don't have pre-outs. Bummer. Most AVR's will NOT pass digital sources to analog tape outs. Page 40 of the manual confirms that.

no can do. sorry. You need Pre-Outs to feed an external amp.

Denon AVR 1804

You need to get the manual and do some reading first. I couldn't find the AVR-1804 but the AVR-1803 is avaiable. It should be close enough to get you through connection and setup.
