what setting do you mean? the ds setting like clock, date, languanges, user information ect? if that's what you mean, just erase the data and input one character and confirm (user information), the date and clock etc won't be a problem right!?!
have you checked the settings on the ds? that might be all you need to do. go to the main ds screen, and at the very bottom, tap the ds icon. it will bring up four boxes you can tap. go to the one with a clock, and find the one with "set time". they only programmed the ds so it's military time, so you will have to figure out 1:00pm to 12:59 am, but it's not that hard. just add the number of the hour to 12. set the time, and it should work. if not, you either need a new ds, or send it into nintendo and have them figure it out.
i had some trouble with my ds, and so i killed the battery. you have to stop charging it and leave it on with full sound to down the battery faster. keep doing this untill when you turn it on it shuts off by it's self imediately. leave it alone for a week or so and then check and see if you can turn it back on. if it won't even light up for a moment when you hit power you've done it right.
WARNING: this will erase all saved data for all games on the ds.
you can now plug it into the wall and let it charge for at least 5mins. keep it pulgged in and turn it on. it should show the settings menu for birthday, time, etc. just like when you first took it out of the box.
this will reset the ds to factory settings, and should alow you to change the time.
NOTE: only do this if the time is REALLY bothering you.
Turn on the unit with no cartidges. Press the screen to acknowledge the warning message.
On the next screen, press the tiny ds icon at the center bottom of the lower screen. This enters the setup. Fromhere you can press the clock calender icon (blue one) to set the time. Youcan also change other settingswith the other icons.
While the unit is OFF, push down and hold the START button then turn ON the NDS. You can try the same with the SELECT or both buttons down. That must grant you access to the DS main menu.
By default the DS load the game cartridge when only one slot is used and let you choose when two slots are used. So if both slots are empty the menu must appear though your case would be very rare.
