SOURCE: change blade

depending on how new the saw is there are only 2 ways to change out the blade. the older saws have a allen head screw that you must loosen or remove to take te blade off. this screw is located on the shaft at the top of the blade. shed some light on it and look for a slot above the guide.the screw will be either on the right side or the left side. Newer models will have a quick release on one side or the other,it will look like a little lever, you just flip it out with your thumb the old blade drops out then you install the new blade flip it back and your back in business.

SOURCE: Dewalt jigsaw (dw321) how to

UNPLUG TOOL. To remove the blade, lift the knob on the top of the jig saw approximately 1/4".

Rotate the knob counterclockwise until the clamp is open (Figure 8a). Do not force the knob once

it stops. Insert the blade as shown. Make sure the back edge of the blade fits into the support roller.

Tighten clamp by turning top knob clockwise until you hear a click. Push knob down.
For "T" shank blades, insert blade to the shoulder of the shank.

I have a Dewalt DW321 corded jig saw. I can't get the blade to release. The blade blade holder seem frozen.

place the shaft in the fully up position and give the collet holder a tap to move it back up further
sometimes they jam from metal, dust and grit
sometimes a bit of WD-40 or like item will lubricate the movement and make it easy to pull up

I can not find my instructions for the Dewalt321 jigsaw so i therefore cannot replace a blade that fell out

Most Dewalt manuals are available here: https://servicenet.dewalt.com/Home . There are 40 Dewalt power tools with 321 in the model number. Several are jigsaws. There are two types for the DW321 (TO3PAK-2LE JIG SAW) jigsaw. Please look at the label on the jigsaw to ensure that you get the correct model and type. The direct link to the manual for the DW321 Type 1 is currently https://servicenet.dewalt.com/Products/GetDocument?docName=402086-01,DW321.pdf&productId=2841&productType=3001&documentId=24909&translatedFileName=http://documents.dewalt.com/documents/English/Instruction%20Manual/402086-01,DW321.pdf .

To change the regular blade on the DW321 type 1, unplug the power tool. To remove the blade, pull the knob on the top of the jigsaw up about 1/4". Rotate the knob counterclockwise until the clamp opens. Do not force the knob after it stops. Insert the blade making sure that the back edge of the blade fits into the support roller. Rotate the knob clockwise until it clicks and then push it down.

I hope this helps.

My Hitachi cj 110 jig saw blade keep falling out I have tried different types of blade What?s the deal with that? I don?t know why someone would put a quick release holder on a blade shaft of a power tool...

WOW everyone really cant figure out the problem??? Take your jigsaw blade and hit it with some coarse sandpaper or a dremel and knock the finish off the edges and sides depending on maker and it willl work just fine. The blade companys put a super slick finish on the blades. not the saws fgault.

How do you change the blade in a DeWalt Jig Saw Model DW321

  1. Lift the black handle/knob approximately ¼”.
  2. Turn the handle/knob counterclockwise 5-7 full turns until blade chuck is completely open, keep the black knob pulled up as you turn it.
  3. Insert “T” shank or universal jigsaw blades into the chuck making certain that the back edge of the blade fits into the support roller. Please note that when using “T” shank blades, insert the blade to the shoulder of the shank.
  4. With the knob/handle still in the up position, turn the handle/knob clockwise until the knob starts to ratchet.
  5. Push the handle/knob down. The blade is completely installed at this point.
