While you have the back cover off, test the panel and power supply board by disconnecting the cable from main board. If unit's backlight comes on the main board needs replacing. If the backlight does not, the power board needs replacing.

SOURCE: no picture

The way to isolate the failure to the power supply would be to measure the voltages going to the backlight inverter board. If all the voltages are normal then is more likely a defective backlight inverter board or LCD controller board.

SOURCE: tv will not start after power surge

Voltage checking and caps inspection will be the first thing to do.
If you can post the pictures, that will help a lot. Look at the inverter board to see if you are getting 12~18vdc feeding it, also look for caps with leaking/bulging top.

Chec to see if you are getting 12vdc at the T-CON board power input pin first.
First, look at the screen in darkened room to see if you can see any slight glow from the screen, if it does, then the problem can be the T-CON (not getting the 12vdc) or the main logic board not feeding the signals to the T-CON board.
if not, next place to check will be the power supply module, make sure it has 24vdc which is required by the backlight inverter to work, the reason for not having 24vdc can be from bad DC filter caps (leaking/bulging top, high ESR) or short circuits in the inverter board which will cause the 24vdc supply to go into shutdown mode, so you may have to disconnect the power cable that feed the inverter board to see if the 24vdc will work without the inverter board hookup, you will need to apply about 3~4 amp of load to the 24vdc to make sure it can handle that. There are fuses on the backlight inverter boards also. So there is some troubleshooting you will have to do to find out the causes of the problem you are having.

If you are going to DIY and have proper tools, electronics knowledge, and know safety precaution then please read on:

SOURCE: I have Samsung UN46B8000XFXZA LED TV. After power

Yes based on your testing it appears that the power supply is at fault solely and you can opt to attempt a repair or replace it altogether. Unfortunately you will not be certain that the main board does not also need to be replaced until you have repaired the power supply.

Had colored vertical lines on my Samsung LED TV. Have replaced the main board as well as power supply board. I now get a uniform blue screen with no other images. Any idea what the problem might be?

If you have replaced the main board and power supply board and are still getting a uniform blue screen on your Samsung LED TV, it could indicate one of the following issues:
  1. T-Con Board: The T-Con board, or Timing Control Board, is responsible for managing the flow of video data from the main board to the LCD panel. If the T-Con board is damaged or not functioning properly, it can result in a blue screen.
  2. Backlight Inverter: The backlight inverter is responsible for powering the backlight of the TV. If the backlight inverter is not working properly, it can result in a uniform blue screen.
  3. LCD Panel: The LCD panel could be damaged or have developed a problem, causing the uniform blue screen.
  4. Signal Cable: The cable connecting the main board to the T-Con board or the LCD panel could be damaged, causing a lack of signal and a blue screen.
It's best to consult with a professional repair technician or the manufacturer for further diagnosis and repair. They will be able to determine the exact cause of the issue and recommend the best course of action.

There were some bad lighting strikes and possible surges in my area and there was a blue flash on the Samsung 4k ultra tv screen and it shut down, how can you help?

You need a new television or professional repairs, 120,000 volts does a lot of damage. You can put a claim into the electricity utility company as they will have notice of the surge and they are supposed to keep the voltage even. You can also claim on home insurance.

You have to check whether the back-light inverter gets its proper voltages to function. There as many voltages that controls the back-light inverter. Check these is a skilled work. Contact any experienced service technician. If you are not familiar with electronics, do not attempt to repair. Whether you suffer fatal electrical shock! Instead, contact the nearest service center.

VO37L HDTV10A backlight on, get sound, no picture

TV sets that have been exposed to significant surges can have multiple boards that are damaged. If the backlights are indeed firing, and you get no picture, you may have a problem with the T-Con board, assuming the main board is working properly. This is exactly why I steer people away from repairing sets that have been hit with large surges. In most cases it will be cheaper to buy new sets vs. repair them.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. A plasma TV is a very hard working device. It is working harder than any TV that has been built before, and as a result it produces a lot of heat. 75% of technical problems in plasma TV's are caused by overheating problems. X, Y sustain, buffer boards controls picture, fires the gas, and many others functions. When either of these boards goes bad common problems include negative image, no image, vertical or horizontal stripes on picture, turns on and than turns off, and many more. You’ll need to open the back off the TV and check for any swollen/bulged/leaky capacitors on these boards and replace whichever has gone bad. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise & know how to solder/re-solder components as these units contain high voltages even when switched off. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Thanks
