Faults & possible causes to LCD screen are given with illustrations. You can get an idea about the fault to an extent.
Hi there knight,
Firstly a massive thanks taking time to message my enquiry. I've been at a loose end trying to talk to any real know it people in all honesty and don't want the first go solution shops to hit me with call out charges when I may be able to isolate the problem somehow and then replace the board / component myself etc.. I've spent days now look at some amazingly interesting posts, pictures, DIY stories many on your site provided to me. So again thanks for pointing me to electronics online blog buddy.
At the moment I still haven't figured out how to localise my fault or which board may be causing the issue. If I knew I would simply order a full replacement board and fit it myself as I have done with an older plasma TV of mine when it stopped working with similar symptoms. As this was an older TV I picked up a power board (which didn't change a thing) followed by the ysus board (which fixed the issue) cheaply so didn't mind the fact my lack of engineering skill caused me to buy a power board unnecessarily.
The components for my current TV cost a lot more so don't want to make a mistake buy if more could have been done by myself to localise the fault.

If you are experiencing problems with your C70, C80, C120, E80 or E120 display resetting itself, or randomly turning itself off, there are 2 troubleshooting procedures that may resolve the issue:
1. Ensure that none of the buttons are stuck under the edge of the display's front fascia.
When the Multifunction Display is first installed, or any time after the front fascia has been removed, it is very easy to get the edge of one or more of the rubber buttons trapped under the edge of the plastic fascia. This is particularly prone to happening if the snaps that secure the fascia to the display are not fully engaged around both the outside perimeter of the fascia, and the insider edge surrounding the LCD display.
E-Series display with soft key trapped under fascia.
You can free the buttons from under the edge of the fascia by applying pressure to them with a fingertip, and rotating your fingertip in a circular motion. When the button is properly through the fascia it should sit centered within its hole, and you should feel a positive "click" of the internal switch when pressing and depressing each button. If trapped buttons were found, releasing them will return the display to normal operation.
2. Reset the display.
Your display may require a reset which will erase any stored waypoints, routes and tracks.
If your MFD's menus are accessible:
Backup your personal data CompactFlash memory card. Please see Answer #1145, Backing up waypoint, routes and tracks on C and E-Series for complete instructions.
Once your data is backed up you can reset the display using this procedure:
If your MFD's menus are not accessible:
You will not be able to backup your personal data. We can reset the display though using this procedure:
Once your display has returned to normal operation you should check its operating software version, and upgrade to the latest version (if applicable.) The latest update for your model is 3.31. It will be displayed on the message that appears during start up. This is an important update because changes were made to the WAAS satellites and your E80 will not recognise the satellites without this update. Click this link to download the update: Raymarine V3.31 update.
You may need to create a free account if you don't already have one.

I don't think that it is a problem with your IP address settings.
I would disable all security temporarily, just to see if that makes a difference.
If you are using Windows Vista, take a look at this post and see if that could be one of the underlying problems.
If you have any more questions, just come back here and leave a comment - I'm happy to help.

Jay .. if you still have the receiver. heres what you do. reset the receiver and when the blue screen comes up saying "Hello your directv receiver is starting up" On your remote type in 0 2 4 6 8 .. then it should go to a screen saying "new software found" . Let it download the update.. That should fix the issue .. However if it doesn't then it could be the hard drive. The pcb board on them usually fries.. but that can be ordered too... let me know how this works... you can email me at [email protected]
