How do I set a Unitech MS 180 up?

There isn't a download for this reader, it simply sends the data read via RS-232, aka, a serial port.

You can get TeraTerm Pro for free (find it with your favorite search engine) to receive the data when you read a card. Other serial port communications programs are available as well.

Most devices like this default to 9600, 8, n, 1 for serial port settings, but you may have to fiddle with these settings, 1200 and 4800 are also fairly common for this type of device .

The scanner has several modes of operation after reading a barcode. But I comment it may be bad configuration. Check that the mode of connection is correct (usb, keyboard wedge, RS232, etc.). All this programming is done with the user manual, through configuration barcodes. If you do not, then you can download from www.ute.com.
