No sound to my earing aids from my Compilot II when my Phonax TVLink II is connected via the optical output of my Samsung TV Model 55MU7000.

My Bose Soundbar connected via the optical output of my Samsung TV works fine !!! Also, the only way to connect Phonax TVLink II to my model of TV is through the Digital Audio Output (optical) port. Everything goes perfect when I connect my Phonax system the way described aboie to the other TV I have which is a Sony TV.

SOURCE: hooking up a Bose Lifestyle 30 II to an optical audio output

Actually, you can do this. Just get an optical to RCA converter.
This looks like a good one: http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Go-40019-Optical-Converter/dp/B0002GV876/ref=pd_cp_e_2

How do I connect my phonak tv link ll to my Samsung blue tooth compatable TV

You'll need to check the Phonak Link's manual in how to start "pairing mode". This set the link to broadcastinging that it's a bluetooth device.
Next go into you TV settings and find connections or Bluetooth settings and "add device" or "pair device" (or something similar).
You should see the "ID" for the link come up.
Select "Pair device" or "OK" or whatever to confirm you want it paired.

On my compilot I hear fine if I listen with tv muted, but with tv on (so others can hear) there's a terrible echo and I can't hear

Make sure it is connected directly to the TV audio output and that there is not a microphone connected to the compilot streaming device. If it has an internal mic or a connected one plus a direct connection via a cable there will be an echoing feedback. Remember to check the set up in the manual to make sure it is connected properly.

Have Technics SA-EX500 connected to Samsung Smart TV. For tv channels the sound is perfect but when I switch to Netflix or HBOGO the sound is static/cackling.

Suggest connecting via the headphones jack or if available the RCA audio output jacks. If you connect via the headphone jack you will need to adjust the TV volume to a lower setting to avoid distortion/./ The The problem is that the optical output connection is a digital connection and depending on the digital format the Digital to Analog converter may not be a configuration that the audio stream to the stereo required for the tv/vcr in.

How does the audio sound using the Samsung Smart TV internal speakers>

Also under menus/audio/settings you may need to change the Optical output to stereo.

Netflix also has settings that will change the audio stream.

Hope This helps?

Optical output, no sound!

Have you selected Optical output from the audio setup screen of the TV? That needs to be selected to transfer TV audio to the optical out of the TV.
