Hello Stephen Godfrey...
I have a
SAVAGE pump...
That I have had since I was young
( long time gone (at that time it was old))...
When one of my "friends" felt compelled to DRY-Fire it...
(which I was trained to NEVER do) the firing pin emerged from the BOLT.. and stuck (in such a way as to crush the primer well before the BOLT would be locked (I poured my favorite gun-smiths
sources... and contacted my
munitions mentors... BITTERLY COMPLAINING about my inability to get any meaningful numbers ...
With some fiddling... measuring and looking in SAVAGE
catalogs... I was informed that I had a
PRE 1958...
model 30, 12 gauge... and to concern myself no
further about the TOTAL LACK OF ANY NUMBERS...
Savage DIDN'T do NUMBERS on
shot-guns previous
to 1958.
They ordered my new
FIRING PIN... and it fit perfectly.
We all lived happily ever after.
The END.
