SOURCE: Whirlpool Ultimate Care HD Plus Model #LSR8233EQ0 won't agitate or spin

It sounds like the coupling between the motor and gearbox has worn out. It should cost around $15 plus shipping and handling.

SOURCE: Washing machine will not drain.

I have the same problem. If I press on the lid by the switch it starts up and finishes the load. Hope this works for you!

SOURCE: I have an auto sensing load whirlpool washer,

is it still under warranty but anyway there is a water fill level switch that controls the water level and when it reaches the setting u have it on then it shuts the water off and the wash cycle kicks in most likely bad or it may have a small hose on it that is crinkled off or stopped up

Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6600SBT Top Load Washer won't aggitate

My Whirlpool WTW6600 had the same problem. The tub no longer floated up and down on the center shaft, so it only spun, not agitated. You must remove the tub (with some effort) and lightly sand / clean the center shaft. Lube it lightly with wheel bearing grease so that after it is reassembled, you can pull the tub upward and feel about 1/2" movement. This will enable the proper gear assembly to engage. It can spin when it rests at the bottom of its travel, but once you fill the tub, it floats, moving upward, and engaging the agitation gear. Good Luck!

Washing Machine does not agitate

This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.

First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/index.action

Enter your model number and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.

Following is the Whirlpool installation and maintenance PDF on how top load, direct drive washers work with a troubleshooting section.

https://secured.whirlpool.com/Service/SrvTechAdm.nsf/2cd44500d572193285256a45004fd9d6/f7e2147fa98b28cf85257122007475cb/$FILE/L-55.pdf

Following is the Whirlpool parts list for commercial top load, direct drive washers although the consumer washers are basically the same.

The problem seems to point to the Agitate Cams in the transmission that raise and lower the Agitate gear on the main transmission shaft. These are relatively inexpensive to replace.

I'd also check the splines on the main agitator shaft and the two pronged "washer" on top of it.

Washer won't spin makes banging sound

remove the agitator. there is a cone shaped block on the agitator shaft and locked to the tub via a large lock nut. spin tube has 2 tabs that lock into slots on top of block. these can strip out and cause the spin tube to spin inside block. watch it and turn machine on spin. tub can also drop and drag on bottom of outer tub. if this is it replace block and gently straighten tabs on spin tube.

Does not spin or empty

it might be jammed or there might be dirt or some sort of a clog. I would suggest you clean it out.

I have a Whirlpool LA6800XTWO washer. When I run it, it fills with water, but it does not spin, agitate, or pump the water out. When it gets to a point that it should do one of the above things all I...

sounds like a broken coupler, looking at your wiring diagram this unit would agitate with lid up right? then lid sw is not your problem, if it does not drain either then motor must be not turning over, so i would check the capacitor first. (it on the back panel behind the tub)
