if you just go this thin PC, many have dummy DVD drive there.
most do I guess, as most folks don't use DVD now so is and OPTION

the PC is turned on and works ok right?
then you push the button (real) on the try and fails?
if yes, then do the paper clip manual eject.

You were close, but didn't explain it very well. If you push on the 'DISPLAY' button (left side of machine as you are facing it, about half way down) when the unit is off, it will say something like "DEALER MODE", push it again to return it to regular mode. You may have to press and hold the button to get it to display 'DEALER MODE', then when everything is normal, "DEALER MODE" just goes off and isn't replaced by anything. Hope I explained it well. This sounds like the child lock has been inadvertently activated . Look through the manual to find the key combination to unlock it.

on the bottom under the dvd tray is a hole. inside the hole is a white plastic gear that opens the dvd tray. it is stamped with a phillips screwdriver depression. insert a phillips screwdriver and rotate to open tray/

Most likely if you have to use a paperclip to open the door, your drive is bad and needs to be replaced. They are pretty easy to install, directions depends on if you have a desktop or laptop Aspire.
