Compaq CQ 60 Battery Wont Charge when too Hot?

You need to replace your old battery. Don't over charged your battery. If you are using your laptop in your house it is better not to use it with battery. Just use the power adaptor/supply only. Then make sure you will drain the battery let say once a week. =)

You can try and just pull the battery and the power cord for a few minutes, if that doesn't help may need to verify you haven't had a stick of ram or some other connection. If it's none of those it could be the charging circuit, or the amperage being off on the power adapter. I have seen that numerous times good luck!

You will need to buy a new battery, there is no way old one will be OK. To see if it works, remove battery, and use wall adapter ONLY, PC should work fine. If not maybe Flat CMOS, replace, If replace and still NO go.must be bad motherboard (maybe try charge battery 5 hours left alone)

I will need more information here but it seems that either the battery needs a charge or the power adapter has failed.

For just such occasions, I recommend that everyone have a low-cost multimeter at home. They are versatile and give you the features for measuring AC/DC voltage (which is what you need), resistance and a few current ranges.  They cost less than $20 US at Radio Shack or auto parts stores or if near a Harbor Freight Tool store, underr $10 US.
You need to verify if you have any voltage from your adapter/charger and whether the battery pack is still intact (they have thermal fuses inside).
The meters come with an adequate Chinglish basic instruction sheet and leads and battery.
