Probably not unless it is an obvious issue like a broken wire.

SOURCE: where can I find the serial # on my companion

Depends on the age of the scooter. It could be on the seat post between the batteries or under the floor mat.

SOURCE: Golden Companion Scooter not moving - diagnosed via owner manual

Hi. Many scooters will display this fault code if the potentiometer is not exactlly centred when you turn on the key. The pot is not always faulty. Some scooters also have a smaller additional pot to controll the speed. If this pot is faulty it will cause the same fault code. Any other switches such as indoor/ outdoor switches. I have had a few machines fitted with curtis controllers where the fault is in the controller.
Check the wiring and plugs and connectors.
Good luck. Neil.

Trying to find a golden companion repair service

We broke the control lever that allows the scooter to go frontward and backward. What is the part and how can we get it.

The Golden Buzzaround Lite Scooter (I am not sure of the RTO prefix) is manufactured by
Golden technologies. If you broke the control lever (paddle) for the throttle potentiometer, there is probably also damage to the potentiometer. I recommend you replace the paddle and potentiometer. See page 16 at the following link:
http://www.goldentech.com/pdf/support/ride/gb101-service-manual.pdf

This is a simple repair that should take under 1 hour. It's a little tricky to center the paddle by loosening and tightening the allen set screws.

Please purchase OEM parts for this scooter to get the correct parts and fit. Please consult the manufacturer:

Golden Technologies • 401 Bridge Street, Old Forge PA 18518 • Tel: (800) 624-6374 • Fax: (800) 628-5165 • www.goldentech.com

They may require you to purchase from an authorized local dealer.

A partial parts list is available at this link:

http://www.goldentech.com/pdf/support/ride/BuzzaroundParts.pdf

You can save considerably on the labor cost if you replace this part yourself. Work slowly and carefully so you do not damage the internal circuit board or pinch any wires on assembly. Use the correct size allen wrench so you do not strip the screws when removing the paddle lever. Hope this helps.

Moving problem

More than likely its the speed pod or engager (paddle assy. This would need to be replaced.

Companion II. The light blinks 7 times over and

7 light error refers to paddle or speed
potentiometer problem, if you feel confident taking the covers off then check that all the connections are nice and firm, also on other scooters if the paddle is not located in the neutral position when you turn the scooter on the control box will detect this and "lock out" the scooter, you can fix this using trial and error but it can be very fiddly! (yes iv had to do this before!) if all the connections seem quite solid and on the control box this would possibly suggest that either the potentiometer has failed and will need replacing (which would mean reconfiguring the paddle when its in) or there is a fault in the control box, if you dont feel comftable/cant fix this problem then obviously i would reccomend taking it to an authorised repair shop, i hope this helps you if i can be of any furthur assistance then my email is rick @ lxrixta.co.uk (remove the spaces!)
