My Mastercraft framing nailer will only fire at angles and not straight. Model 58-8434-4. What could be the issue.

It's an older model and heavily used Im assuming. The gun fires great if it is shooting on an angle. But when trying to shoot straight, nothing happens. I think the firing head may be too worn out and being at an angle is the only way it gets enough pressure, but I'm not sure.

It sounds more like a trigger or safety problem. try squeezing and wiggling the trigger while against a board in an upright position. if that doesn't do it, try adjusting the depth gauge up and down a turn at a time, testing as you go.

SOURCE: Framing nailer intermittently doesn't shoot the nail.

Make sure to blow out the magazine where the nails load, make sure the spring tension on the nail clip is working properly, make sure you're not holding the clip somehow with your off hand so the clip can't feed correctly.

Nail gun, stappler wont fire

Hi,

Please attempt to push out some test staples at different angles with your mastercraft. That is, I'd like you to rotate 90 degrees 4 times and attempt to push a staple each time. If it works only at certain angles, then we know that something has come apart within the mastercraft. And you've already applied oil on the mastercraft which is good. If possible, please swap out the staples and attempt to sho ot with the new set. Otherwise, I think Home Depot or Lowe's should be the next stop so they can examine the device and determine how to troubleshoot.

Thank you.

D51822 is nailing at a 45 degree angle instead of 90 degree

Joe,
hey not sure what the d51822 brand name is I work on bostitch as a service tech. so well the obvious question with the details you've given 45 degree angle? so are they bent over to get that angle? not sure how they can come out straight and get bent. ok the nose ( where the nail comes out) is it completely flat on the board? if so I would be nearly impossible to create a 45 angle. not doubting you. I work on F28WW bostitch thinking they are similar so, check the bolts on the top (loose or damaged) or the nose its self see if it is bent. it would be only slight because otherwise the driver ( what pushes the nail in) would get jammed and not fire at all .try that first thinking the nose is bent and if its bent its junk. because cracks are next and that's when really bad things happen fast.

I dropped my mastercraft framing nailer. The angled nail slide piece broke off. Will i be able to exchange it?

yes you can replace the part but best if tech does it, can be some what complicated..but check manufacture for parts and exploded diagram. most parts are after market now for older guns.

DOUBLEFIRINF AND JAMMING. DONT HAVE A MANUEL SO NEED TO KNOW WHAT NAIL TO USE AND THE ANGLE

Double fire is usually caused by trying to use a bump fire trigger system as single fire (place on work then pull trigger). If however the gun double fires when bump firing, replace the trigger valve. Some nailers have the ability to select bump or single fire. The selector for bump or single fire is usually on the trigger or just above or below the safety actuator. Other brands offer different triggers available as a part number.
When trying to determine what nail to use, look for the model number of the nailer. Letters associated with the model number will give you a clue. Example; the letters RN in the model number indicates Round head Nail. The angle of the nail is easy to determine. Just measure the angle formed by the path of the driver and any straight line of the rails.

Mastercraft brad nailer model 57-7900-2 5/8" - 2"

No experience of Mastercraft brad nailers but if fires with out depressing nose tool is dangerous and should be returned to manufacturer. Dewalt make battery powered brad guns and recently produced a battery framing nailer. I would not say that other nail guns are exactly cheap if they are beware they may not be up to the pressures excerted on the whilst firing.

Older model framing gun have not used for quite a long time new gas cylinder recharged battery will not fire perhaps battery not up to it any more or in need of service ?

does it attempt to fire, and on the side where the light is what color is flashing when you try to fire, if it is red then usually it means that the battery needs charged. If been sitting the combustion chamber, cylinder could be dry and also dirty and yes I would clean and service it.

What is my framing nailer?

I would go to Campbellhausfeld.com and under products look at the couple nailers they list. They do have a 28deg nailer and also a 21deg, so you could be right in thinking that it is a 28deg, they also show how to find the model number if there is still a tag on the tool. This would be a start to identify your gun
