Moving extention number

We are moving someone to a new desk. They have an extension number and would like to to take the extension number and associated voicemail with them. How do i change the extension on the exisiting phone at that desk?
Please let me know if this question required further clarification.

Thanks!

It appears that some of the phones i moved work fine by just moving them and their cord but two wont. How do i turn this feature on to allow me to move the phones with their extentions manually?
    Thanks!

There is an AutoSet Relocate feature on the Nortel System, see if you can just move the set: the extension and voicemail will follow.

If it doesn't return the set to were it was originally, and we can turn this feature on.

I have a NEC DTH-8D-1 Corded phone. I moved my desk and plugged the phone in at a different phone line port and the screen now reads "Initialize." What is it asking for? How do I set up my phone at th

Your extension is hardwired to 1 jack, if you plug in somewhere else you'll be lucky if the jack is active with another extension. Someone needs to re-wire your extension in the phone room to your new jack. If it won't activate but says Initialize, then that jack probably has a live fax line or analog extension, but not a digital line that works on your phone.

The only way a password will stay with a phone is if the "Extension Relocate" feature is turned on. This means that when the phone is moved from one desk to another it retains the same extension number. To verify this do a Feature *0 and press the intercom button to view your extension. Now move the phone to another desk and repeat the process.
Passwords are related to the voice mailbox and there are verbal commands using the dial pad to make any changes. Usually 1 is for yes and two for no or 1 to change and 2 to accept. Not knowing which voice mail system your have it is hard to give anymore detail.

Our phone system crashed not to long ago and had to get new equipment we had someone come in and reprogram the phones. Everything was fixed except a few extension were switched around. so say the person at...

Go look at the system cabinet. The processor (the card with all the jacks in the center) are numbered. If it's an R8 card, then they number 10-18 from left to right and top to bottom. (actually 10-14 and 15-18) 13 and 17 are right next to each other :-)

It's fairly easy, you ought to be able to start moving jacks and figure it out.

How do i change the phone extention number - Panasonic KX-T7665

It depends on your phone system, the smaller ones, 50, have modular jacks to distribute the extensions and you can simply move the pluged in extension wiring on the control unit, for instance if you are 102 and the other phone is 103, simply swap the plugs on the main control unit. The larger Panasonics have direct wiring so you need a punch tool and some cross wire to move an extension.

Change/reprogram extensions

The easiest way to do this is move the cross connect in the closet. Get the jack number from each location and swapped the cross connect(wire). You could change the extension number in MB4-10 but it depends on the type of system you have.
