I had the same problem of the heater not working after sitting for a year. I drained the old kerosene and refilled with fresh kerosene. Works great.
p.s.-there was a lot of debris in the bottom of the tank.
Check to make sure tank is free of water in bottom, add 1 cup of diesel 911 additive for 5 gal. of fuel. started unit several times out side to get bad fuel out and ran for .5 hr. seems to run fine now.

Here are some of the questions that we need answers to: 1 What engine is in your tractor? 2. How long has it been since you last ran it? 3. Did you leave fuel in the tank and/or carburetor over winter? 4.
Have you checked the obvious: fresh fuel in tank? gas shutoff valve
open? any loose wires? is there spark at the plug? is the air filter
clean? is the spark plug clean and properly gaped? 5. When it last ran, did it run okay? 6. When it cranks, does it seem to be at a normal crank speed, or does it just turn over s-l-o-w-l-y? From
what little you told, my guess would be that you left gasoline in
the carburetor over winter, and your carburetor is gummed up.
This a common problem after they have set up over the winter. Water has probably condensated in your gas tank and now it is in the gas line. The tank should be drained of old gas and the gas line to the carb should be removed from the tank and blown out with compressed air to remove all old gas/ water. Attach the gas line back to the tank and refill the tank with new fuel. This should take care of the problem. To avoid this next time, just fill your gas tank to the top at the end of the season and leave it full through the winter.
First, I've had a motorcycle for almost 50 years and have never drained the gas. At one point it was not used for 3 years. It started, I added gas and it ran fine.
Second, next time you are running the machine and it begins to stall, immediately loosen the gas cap. If it starts to run good again, drill out the air vents on the cap.

Check for a plugged fuel filter and defective fuel lines. Make sure the carburetor fasteners are tight. Check for spark at the plug--it should be blue and snappy with a new plug. If ok, squirt in some fuel mix in the plug hole, replace the plug, and see if it will pop a couple of times. If ok, make sure the primer bulb draws fuel into it after several pumps. If still won't run, remove the lower chamber of the carburetor and check the diaphragm for flexibility and no holes. Hope this helps!
try new spark plugs. and for next winter you're better off not draining everything. best thing is add some fuel stabilizer and run it a few minutes once in a while. empty lines tanks and carbs attract moisture.
sounds like a fuel problem in the gas tank or carb. If bad gas or debris gets into the carb fuel bowl, this will fowl up or clog the jets after you start to run your engine. you need to remove your carb and clean the fuel bowl and jets. use a jet carb cleaner to do this. without knowing what type of engine, make sure all ur jets are clean. use a fine wire to insure they are clean and put te carb back together. also check and clean the fuel valve area of the carb, the fuel line, and the fuel tank. never use last years gas and always run your equipment out of gas before you store it for the winter.
1. check the oil level... don't want the auto shut off to be the problem due to low oil level 2. pull the carb bowl and check for residue. Spray out the needle valve in the carb, spray out the bowl and any jet openings you can find...spray them out too. 3.When you winterized, did you put fuel stabilizer in the tank? If not, drain the tank and refill with fresh... 4. check the air filter element and make sure it is clean...
This could be one of several problems... • Last year's fuel. Get some fresh gas. • Every 2-stroke needs a new spark plug each year... you know what that means. • Clogged carb jets due to storing the tiller over the winter with fuel in the system. Never, ever do that. Now you'll need to pull the carb apart and clean it. Most of the orifices are so tiny you can't see them. Good luck. • Engine is so old the crankshaft seals have hardened with age. This is one reason no 2-stroke lasts longer than about 8 years. If the seals are shot, then it will cost more to fix than a new one costs. Time to toss it.
