While filter is out checking the coil check filter. If your filter is clogged then your restricting the air flow back to furnace creating ice up. Supply and return on demand. Don't have one then you won't get the other

Well if it's 78 then it's at least attempting to cool. Go to the front of the air handler an pull the black rubber insulation back on the bigger copper line. When the AC is in cool this line should be cold. Fairly cold if your cooling correctly. Also, if u have a stand that your unit is sitting on with an open bottom, then pull the filter out and get a flashlight and look into the bottom. If your coils look like snow white ice. Then your unit is icing up and u aren't getting the proper return. Check these two things and let us kno what u see.

SOURCE: how do i set my temperture on my air conditioner

sounds like you could be low on charge,If you set you thermostat @ 78 degrees it should stay within 2 degrees of that and not have more then a 6-8 min cycle every 20 min.

My thermostat, it is a pro T701 and it is not cooling the house

Lol. I doubt you can blame the tstat for not cooling the house. I'm sure you have an air conditioning problem. Is the tstat reading the right temp and the house is not getting any cooler or is the tstat lying?? Is your outdoor unit running and do you see any ice on the outdoor unit pipes?

I need to know the right temperture settings cause i dont have a manual

dont try to lower cool setting below 70 degrees or heat setting above 78 degrees. all a/c's are designed for a 95 degree ambient when it gets above that you have to increase tonnage to compensate.

The temp setting shows 78 degrees, lower to 72 degrees /it stays for 15 sec and returns to 78 degrees no codes

you may not be giving the a/c enough time to cool down to 72 the reason it goes back to 78 is that is the temp in the room at that moment put on 72 and give it about 20-30 min. to see if this helps

I have the Haier HWR08XC7 (8000 BTU) and my problem is that I have the thermostat set at 70 degrees, but it stays at 77 or 78 degrees... What could be the problem as the unit is 2 yrs old??

Hi!!

Check your owners manual, probably have unit set at automatic comfort level or some energy saver mode. It should say something on the remote about it.

Need to know what the settings are for the range adjustment A,B,C,D slide switch on the front panel on a Amana PTH123A35AC PTAC

Here they are;

Position A, Cool 70-78, Heat 65-73
Position B, Cool 68-81, Heat 68-76
Position C, Cool 66-83, Heat 61-78
Position D, Cool 63-88, Heat 58-83

Amana calls this a Temerature Limiter and says to only set one switch on at a time. If all switches are off then the unit is at full operating range.
Please rate this answer to let me know if it was the fix.
