SOURCE: what is the gas & oil mixture for ryobi 26cc 22in hedge trimmer

If it is a 2 stroke engine, a 50:1 ratio should work. That's 50 parts gas to 1 part oil.

SOURCE: Ryobi 18V Hedge Trimmer Blade Question

Just buy a file and push 3 or 4 down strokes down the same slope of the cutter toward the sharp edge. Never file on the flat top of the cutter, only on the slope. Support the frame using a saw horse or pick-up bed. The support makes the file cut the metal better. You can do the same thing with chain saws. You just need the file that fits the cutter. You just hold a consistant angle and count out the same number of strokes. Also, clean out junk between the moving parts, tighten any loose screws, and drop a few drops of 3 in 1 oil between the moving parts. Having things sharpened at a shop is inconvenient and expensive.

SOURCE: I have a model # RY39500 ryobi hedge trimmer 2

Sounds like the air screws need adjusted on the carburator. If there are 2 the one with the L above needs to be turned althe way to the right but not to tight and then backed out 1/2 turn to left. The one with the H anove it do the same except back it out 1 and 1/4 turns to left. If it only has 1 screw dot he same but back out 2 complete turns. Hope this helps?

SOURCE: Hedge trimmer starts fine then stops after 5 minutes

Carburetor high speed adjustment ( screw nearest the filter ) open ( counterclockwise ) 1/2 turn.
Adjust again as needed to run when hot.
make sure the gas mixture ratio is as required.

SOURCE: One year old Ryobi s430 4 stroke trimmer will not start.

Check the fuel lines for cracks/breaks. If they are o.k., then:

Youwill need to disassemble the carburetor and spray with carb.cleaner.Make sure the small screen is free of debris. (Should be able to seedaylight through it.)

Use a Den Tek Brush, (http://www.drugstore.com/products/prod.asp?pid=165357&catid=1152),to clean the small portals in carb. These portals can become blocked. Reassemble and start.

If the carb. parts are more than 4 years old, you may have to replace them.

If you need further assistance on:
1. Fuel line replacement or
2. Carburetor kit replacement

Just let me know.

Throttle issues with Ryobi battery trimmer

There could be a few potential causes for this issue with your Ryobi battery-operated trimmer:
  1. Battery issue: If the battery is low on charge or not able to provide enough power to the trimmer, it may shut down when operating at full throttle. Try charging the battery fully and see if the issue persists. If the battery is old or damaged, it may need to be replaced.
  2. Overheating: If the trimmer motor or battery overheats, it may shut down to prevent damage. Try using the trimmer for shorter periods of time and allowing it to cool down between uses.
  3. Trimmer head or cutting line issue: If the trimmer head or cutting line is damaged or worn, it may cause the motor to work harder than normal, leading to overheating and shutdown. Check the trimmer head and cutting line for damage and replace as necessary.
  4. Trigger or motor issue: If the trigger or motor is faulty, it may cause the trimmer to shut down when operating at full throttle. Contact Ryobi customer support or a professional repair technician for assistance in diagnosing and repairing the issue.
Overall, it's best to start with the simplest potential causes first (such as the battery charge level or trimmer head condition) before moving on to more complex issues like faulty triggers or motors.

Ryobi RY40002 String Trimmer motor runs slowly and rough

Question edited to add FULL make model (what it is).
Category moved from Washing Machines to Ryobi Trimmer.

Replace the spark plug. Strip and clean the carburetor. Replace the fuel with fresh. But hang on though, the RY40002 is electric and runs with a 40 volt battery, so no spark plug and carburetor! :>D Replace the battery, lubricate everything from the motor to the head. Check the motor with nothing attached to it. The carbon brushes may need replacing or its bearings need greasing.

Ryobi 40V 2.6A battery. When I put it on the charger the charger blinks green for about 10 minutes and then goes to solid green. However, after 5 minutes of use my Ryobi trimmer dies. I repeat the...

From your description the battery is probably faulty. If the batteries are still quite young it is possibly just one cell and while Ryobi don't refurbish batteries there are companies dotted around that do.

If it is a nicad battery, Ryobi told me just a couple of days ago they no longer supply nicad replacements and expect everyone to upgrade to lithium, which means also buying a charger.

I bought a 18v ryobi hedge trimmer it came with a p102 battery, I had 2 p103 batteries why won't the p103's work in my hedge trimmer?

I do not know, but I have looked at generic battery versions as copies of those two and they seem one and the same in most respects.
So my thought is do they charge up? do they power anything else OK?
Then I would look at the contact areas to see if there is a difference like one has a longer contact or some bit of plastic is on one or not the other.
Many types I have found start out as specific, then over the years manufacturers sell out of older model types then decide to unify whats left to cover a slew of older models.
If charging is the issue then it is a real problem as these modern batteries require exact charging and if its controller finds a battery is below a safe charge up level point they become a brick.
Do not try to "fix" them as methods used on "tolerant" Nicad types to get them to work, is not safe on them they have a BAD reaction to overcharge situations.
If they are not that old maybe you can do a swap deal with Ryobi?

Hope this helps..........

Ryobi 40v trimmer stops working with 1/2 charge left on battery

Battery is weak. Those lights are really useless...more a marketing gimmick. It almost sounds like it developed a memory...this happens when certain types of batteries are not fully discharged before being placed on the charger. Replace the battery and make sure to follow charging directions for that particular type of battery
