I have a PEAVEY XR-AT, and today, when I powered it up, all my function lights came on also, and won't switch off. The 'Mic Mute' lit up, EFX DEFEAT lit up. What is wrong with it?

Sounds like maybe peavy has this happen to point out a burnt out fuse which im not possitive how to get to it but look for a little knob sticking out and if there is one push in and turn it and it will come out with the fuse. im pretty sure that happens so you dont end up playing it more and then something worse happens . im not 100 percent possitive on that but alot of musical equipment has that shut down and something like the lightys to warn you so it doesnt become a major fix. actually a good option on there part. let us know ,im curious.

Hi Mark, for what you say, you would have a problem with the power supply of +/- 15 volts

It is possible that you have issues with caps in the power supply...I would check those first...and you can get the schematics from Peavey....

SOURCE: run a sub woofer to a peavey board

I would recommend using a separate active crossover such as the Peavey 23XO and a separate amp for your subs.

SOURCE: whats the best way to include a separate efx

It looks like using the GROUP output to drive the external FX and then bringing that back into the EFX return is about the only thing you can do in short of putting the effects after the main outputs then it would be on everything.

I have a Peavey XR 8600 PA, I have tried adding an external vocal effects module into a mic line but it drops the output volume of the entire PA by about 75%. Any ideas why this is?

Well, I would say it isn't dropping the level of "the whole pa", it is just dropping the level of the input you have plugged the fx into. Check the settings on your fx unit, there are usually input, output and mix controls that are independant of "the pa" and affect the amplitude of the signal going into your mixer from the fx unit.

Schaller pickup wont work

This is a high output piezo pickup but won't give line level signals expected by some inputs so I would guess you may be going into a line input. If so try a mic input (XLR) instead and see if that works.

My husband purchased one of your xr8600 peavey mixer the problem hes having is he cant get the echo settings right.please can you help.

View videos on YouTube regarding "mixer setup". Find the parts of setting up of "effects". Don't worry that you have a different mixer, the principles are all the same for analog mixers. Steps are this: Set the EFX send level for EACH of the input channels (knob above each channel gain) for the proportion you want for each channel. Check that the level you are sending does NOT cause the effect clip light to light very much. Set the effect you want, delay, echo, etc. with the selector knob. Advance the output sent to the power amp with the two knobs in the upper right of the panel. Adjust the "time" knob for the delay or effect depth you want. Then go over the same settings in the same order until you get the sound you want.

Trying to find the mute j111 on xr684f

I don't believe there is a mute function on the XR684F unit. There is a mute on the XR8600 but they probably use different boards in it. The mute button for the XR8300 and XR8600 are near the effects selector button and LIKELY is board mounted and would not have a J111 connector. If the electrical function is in the XR684, it MAY just be pads like test points, to only be used during testing and troubleshooting.

I have just bought a peavey xr800f powered mixer but unable to get echo on mics any help would be appreciated thanks

There are SEVERAL things to set. First is setting the EFX mix for those channels you want the effects to be active. Next, select the effect you want AND the TIME for the effect and FINALLY the amount of the effect output to go to the MAIN and MONITOR outputs. Also the effect disable button below the effects needs to be in the correct state. ALL of these have to be set for using the effects on the mics.
