Depending on the manufacturer and model of smart tv, there may be different ways to remove his email and then add yours.

Below the sign in area is a Can't access your acct. link click it the next is a email entry page then the next is a verify page put in the code you see in the picture, Next it will ask you do you want a link to reset sent to your verify email acct. you set up or to a phone if you set up a phone number to get password help with choose which ever you got set up and it should get you a link or call. then do what either says to do from there.

You need an active account with the user ID and correct password. Note: if others (like the kids) are using the same account then you will get a "too many users on account" error.
* check your wireless connection as it may be slow (again, too many users on wireless router. My wife kicks everyone off the internet when watching a movie. "You watch what we are watching, just as if we went to the theater together!" ;-)
* Really check your CURRENT password as someone (kids?) may have changed it.
* Check your login ID as someone may have cancelled or changed it (and new password with it)
