I don't have my owners manuel and I don't know how to get the needle to pick up the bobbin thread ... I am pretty much a sewing "dummy" - please help
Thread the machine and the bobbin. Turn the handwheel towards you with your right hand and hold the the top thread in your left hand pulling slightly to the back of the machine. When the needle goes into the needle plate keep turning the handwheel untill the needle picks up the bottom thread and by pulling the top thread you shold be able to pull the botoom thread through the needle plate.
Practise makes perfect.

- You could be holding the needle thread too tight.
Hold the thread lightly to keep the end from going down into the shuttle.- The needle could be thread incorrectly.
Thread the needle eye from the front to the back.- The needle could be bent or improperly inserted.
Install a new needle with the flat side of the needle facing the back.- if this does not help you go to this link.
