I don't have the original power supply for my QU2RCT7 either, but most hubs use a 5v DC power adapter, typically with a 2A. (2 amp) rating. I'm using such an adapter with my QU2RCT7 and it works fine. Make sure the adapter you select is tip-positive (ie, the "+" terminal is the "tip," or center, of the connector).

Who would prevent them from selling anything they like? Who would enforce that law?

PROBABLY, somewhere, whomever sold you that adaptor PROBABLY said something about its power requirements. It may not have been easy to understand, but it was probably there.

But... that doesn't get us any nearer a solution for your problem. For taht... there's WalMart, where you can buy a four-port POWERED USB hub (buy one that comes with its own "wall-wart" power supply).

Oh - you're in the UK. Do you have Wal-Mart there? If not, wherever you buy electronics stuff (including amazon.co.uk), they'll have a powered USB hub.

as per irocks page this is the power info for your device:

Power : Self Power : 5V
Adapter : (input)100~240 VAC , (output)5 VDC

you probably may want to check with someone at radioshack if the adapter you found matches above specs

info on your device can be found here

Power supply for Targus 4 hub usb 2

Most USB hubs do not need an external power supply, except when a connected USB device draws more power than the computer/laptop USB port can supply. In this case an external power supply will need to be connected to the USB hub.
Normally this would be a 5 volt power supply, but make sure the polarity on the connector matches the power connector on the hub, check the label on the hub, sometimes it states to power requirements of the hub as well as the polarity on the connector. Normally the pin on the hub's power connector is positive (ie. +5V)

Just bought a cd burner from yard sale and i want to know how to power it up on back label reads U S B 1930-48 MODEL NO. -A11CW3

It should have a USB port on it for powering it on. That would connect to your computers USB port via a USB cable that can be purchased at may retail outlets. It if has another DC voltage jack, you must then find the right one to power it on.

Does it say who makes it? What brand? That would help in trying to find the right power adaptor if it requires one. It may also say near the power input jack just what voltage it requires.

Dear John,
this USB hub don't need any external power, but you are right there is a power input connector comes with every Targus Usb hub. but these hub self powered . you can use this hub without any worry.

Printer doesn't seem to like my 7 port USB hub

Hi Bob,

A lot of the time devices plugged into a USB hub don't receive enough power to run correctly. One possible solution is to get a dual-input usb cable and try using that. These cables connect to a usb device and then have two jacks for plugging into ports, which may supply enough power. You should be able to find them online fairly cheaply, so if you can spare 2 spots in the usb hub that may be your best bet.

Not enougn power

Hi,

The limitation is actually imposed by the circuitry of the PC as supplied to the individual USB ports.  What you probably need is an externally powered USB HUB.  You will have to determine how much current your drive draws. An example of a max 1 Amp @ 2X500ma/Port is "7-port USB 2.0 hub" [AP-HUB207]. You can check out the specs here > http://www.mittoni.com.au/usb-20-powered-7port-hub-p-1920.html

Hope this be of some help/idea. Post back should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.
